Yesterday, was a very exciting day. I finally got my first El Salvadorian identification, NIT which stands for Numero de Identificacion Tributaria, which is used for tax purposes.

It is almost if not the same as Social Insurance Number in Canada.

Now, that I have my NIT, I can get my driver license, open a bank account, apply for loan, purchase a vehicle, purchase things that are worth over $200 (NIT is needed), and all the tax purposes.

I believe that I can even get a job, here in El Salvador just with my NIT, but I am not 100% sure. I will have to check it out, since I have been applying for call center jobs here in El Salvador, or remote jobs, but when I got interviewed, the agent said I will need my DUI (your identification document) or NIT.

But when I try to apply for jobd here in El Salvador, the DUI number is required.

To get your DUI and your residency, is a very complicated and long process, with you making bunch of trips to San Salvador and other departaments. And that is not just with DUI, but pretty much any document process is usually very time consuming and complicated here in El Salvador, coming from our own experience.

Even to sign the boys to any school here, was a huge headache, with us making like 3 trips to San Salvador to get the boys's report cards stamped and authenticate etc.

To get your NIT, it is pretty easy and straight forward. Ministerio de Hacienda Santa Ana is the place where I got my NIT.

All I needed was my Canadian passport. The price for my NIT in Santa Ana cost me only $2, but I believe that might vary depending on the departament.

We were pretty surprised, how quick and easy this whole process took place. It took us less than 2 minutes to get my NIT printed out, but we were lucky since we went pretty late in the day, 3 pm, so
there was not many people there in the office.

So we were very, very excited to get this done. It was very unexpected, especially since we didn't even plan to go get my NIT any time soon, because we thought it will be the same long process as everything else is here, especially if you are foreigner.
But, the lady that we deal at the bank, told us to go and get my NIT and that all I needed is my passport. So we decided to go and check it out, without any expectations. So glad, we decided just to go for it and got it done.

I am still looking for a remote job from Canada, or US or from anywhere as long as it's a remote worlwide job, like call center, or cutomer service, administrative, so I would really appreciate any advice or recommendations.

We haven't sold the beach yet, so I have been looking and applying for remote jobs, but I have no luck so far.

Thank you for stopping by, and for your support. It's greatly appreciated.
Love @joalvarez
