I have to admit something....
I wasn't planning on posting to Liketu tonight. In fact, I had a big in-depth post that I crafted up over the weekend and was going to sit down after work and hash it out.
Then, life happened....
I ended up working an 11 hour shift, and when I got home the only thing I wanted to do was....Hang out with my family!
The hours at work drained me, but even though it was late, family time became that much more important.
So we decided to let the chickens out of their barn for a while. They got to free range and trust me, they enjoyed trying to catch the bugs lol
You can see from the first two pictures, they have grown a lot. We're about a month or so away from them beginning to lay some eggs. Safe to say, we're very excited for that!
But then the last picture...
My kids created a 'game' tonight, they called it Pebble Golf.
We all gathered around them in our lawn chairs and watched as they tried to get the pebble into the holes lol
And even though we didn't get to spend as much time together tonight as we had hoped...I hope this was an evening they will remember for a long time. We had a blast and my kids honest to goodness, think they are Tiger Woods now lol
11 hours at work was rough. I feel like I missed out on a lot being away from home for so long. But these precious few hours I did get to spend....I'm so grateful for them!
I hope I captured it in these pictures, what life was like for me this evening!

Yeah man, always like showing it. I have done that my entire career, been an open book about my offline stuff lol It's a blessing and a curse lolol
I miss having chickens. Would check on them every night and look for eggs after tossing the grain around every morning.
We're pretty pumped up because we're only a month or so before they start laying!
Rooster, must be good at eating.
thank you for sharing
Yeah, we think we have more than one lol Not good.
Nice shots 📷 the pebble game sounds like fun, even though you were away for that long, those few moments of time with family are always special and treasured.
Always a blessing. Grateful for all the time I can spend with them!
It looks like an interesting way to pass the time and I am glad you enjoy your time with your family.
Yeah, they had fun and it kept them busy for a few hours lol
You live in kinda village looking place, very nice. You still feed some chichkens and get egg in return. It was years ago I used to do here around my house.
Yeah, they are good breeds for laying eggs. We'll see how it goes!
Spending time with family are great moments! They're having fun on the yard with Pebble Golf. The chicken are big now, beautiful pics with beautiful scenery in the background :)
It was a really nice night out there! Thought the evening was perfect.
Pebbles game is quite interesting. This is necessary to spend time with family after 11 hour of duty. You have so many chickens mate. I like it 😊
8 total. And I'm sure we will end up with more soon lol
Ohh that's great :)
Looks like it was a beautiful day out! I totally hear you. I worked an 11 hour day too. We had a school board meeting, so I had to stay late for that. Getting to work at 6:30 and then getting home at 6:30 really sucks. It's been a bit hot and muggy here right now. Hopefully this weekend we can get out and enjoy the weather a bit.
Urgg....Michigan right? Or around those lakes lol Ugly humid in the summer.
Actually, near the lakes there is often at least a breeze. We had one coming out of the East yesterday across lake Huron and all you could smell was the smoke from the fires in Canada. It smelled like a big bonfire outside all day. The haze was crazy!
That's totally understandable! Sometimes life just gets in the way of our plans. It's great that you were able to prioritize spending time with your family after a long day at work. Your chickens look like they're doing well, and it's exciting that they'll be laying eggs soon.

That's great. Kids notice more than we think they do. They'll remember.
