It has been a lot colder here in the Netherlands over the last couple of weeks. Although most people are totally fed up with all of this (for sure I am indeed!), there is one room mate here in the house who can just never get enough of the cold weather. This Bernese mountain dog thrives on being outside when the temperature are low and seems way more energetic than he ever has been.
All of the previous that I have ever had were enthusiastic when there was just a ray of sunlight, they would go and chill and sunbath. Not this one at all. This one loves to run outside when it is cold and especially when the ground is frozen solid...that is when he loves to roll around on the floor as much as possible. And most of all....he doesn't want to come outside anymore.
So these are the days for el doggo to live his best life! As Bernese Mountain dogs in general don't become really old, when doggo is just chilling all day and I am seeing that his fur is turning a tad more gray..that is when I realize that he is becoming a lot older already. But in this cold weather this guy seems like a puppy again. Racing around, chasing other dogs in the woods, looking if there is a rabbit here and there (not that he would be able to catch it because damn he is really slow) and just being so extremely happy.
For doggo....I guess he would be totally fine if this winter would never end. But with these rays of light shining in again today...Heck, I'm not sure he and I agree entirely on the preference of climate choice. I do surely enjoy seeing him being so happy at the moment!

Dogs who love the cold certainly help us to appreciate the winter a little more don’t they?
My little dood wants to go out all the time and would spend hours at the park, not seeming to even notice the cold and snow. No boots on even!

Hahhaha super cool. So yours has the same as well? Thriving in winter time.
I remember that once we were doing a winter bbq in the snow and I put his pilow outside on the tiles so he would have a less cold place to chill at. He refused and just went in to the snow the whole time.
But yeah, they do make us appreciate winter more...Especially the walks!!

Betty has also been happy with the cooler weather. We had a cool day today, down to 50 degrees F (10C) from our normal 80F (26C) that was earlier this week and she loving it.
hahahah I bet she does. Just look at her coat, it looks so much thicker than that mine even has. Crazy right!
Yeah, these dogs are just a lot better in colder weather, they are like 5 years younger all of a sudden!
