Recently I was on the beach on a day while it was super windy. What am I saying, super windy? It was more like a summer blizzard was going down. That is always a bit weird in summer time when the temperatures are high, but the beaches are nearly empty and everyone is eager to shelter behind something, because the sand is blasting everything around.
When I think of a walk on the beach when it is not swimming weather, I think about these kind of days. Not the days when it is freezing or snowing. When you hear the wind singing in your ears and the beach looks endless without a single soul on there. When you feel like taking a hot choco afterwards (heck...alright a beer is also fine) because it felt like you were making a crusade against the elements, even though it was still quite warm.
But maybe the sights on these kinds of days are the coolest. The sand looks like a moon landscape or maybe even how Mars would look like. Every step leaves a footprint but it also disappears again in nearly the same amount of time. The wind takes over, and these waves in the sand feel like a moving creature. Every 5 minutes the waves are different because the wind has given them a new shape.
I would love to make a timelapse of this sand just for a couple of hours and also have the light changing there. Maybe that is a decent project. Hoovering and sheltering in the dunes, while the camera is making a timelapse.
But most of all....No distraction. Zero. Because who would dare to go outside in a summer blizzard like this? Only the wind would make its way out.
