This beautiful monument of just over 70 meters high was inaugurated in the year 1952 to commemorate the anniversary of the capital of the State of Lara in Venezuela. From that precise moment it became an icon of regional identity for all Barquisimetanos; More than a monument, the obelisk is an open space that serves as a meeting and recreation point for all the inhabitants and visitors of the city.
Besides being surrounded by abundant vegetation 🌳 the structure includes an access ramp, stairs and an interior elevator that leads to a viewing room where you can observe much of the city. 🌆
So now you know, if you visit Barquisimeto, the Obelisco is a mandatory stop! 😉

Obelisco de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, Venezuela 😉Este hermoso monumento de poco más de 70 metros de altura fue inaugurado en el año 1952 para conmemorar el aniversario de la capital del Estado Lara en Venezuela. Desde ese preciso momento se convirtió en un icono de identidad regional para todos los Barquisimetanos; Más que un monumento, el obelisco es un espacio abierto que sirve como punto de encuentro y recreación para todos los habitantes y visitante de la ciudad.
