A few thoughts on the results of the trip through Western Sahara to Mauritania, Senegal and the Gambia.
Traveling between West African countries by public transport is quite easy (not to be confused with comfortable) and very cheap. Crossing the border can take a whole day, but it costs only 20-30 euros. It is usually easier to obtain a country A visa in a neighboring country B than in the country of residence. But it can be more expensive due to the greed of local officials. Flights even between neighboring countries are quite expensive.
Which country did you like best? Mauritania, where I got exactly what I expected. In second place is the Gambia, where they speak understandable English and have fairly clean beaches. Provincial Senegal is nothing, but Dakar disappointed.
Which country will I return to? Of course, to Ethiopia.
Africa is addictive. Traveling around Europe does not give such sensations. So it's better not to start.
