"To encourage and support the ability to do something"
Yesterday I attended an EMPOWER session on the Sunborn ship hotel in Gibraltar. I was a bit sceptical to be honest at first..
The day consisted for 3 speakers:
- Sébastien Foucan - who told his story of expressing oneself without the limitation of movement.
- Amy Conroy - she went through the hardest of times - surviving cancer to becoming a 3x Paralympian, she told her story of motivation and power of the mind.
- Drew Povey - A leadership and coach mentor spreading his teachings.
I am so inspired by all 3 people and each of their stories.
A few key points to share:
Life is not easy, no one ever said it was - however what life throws at us we can always conquer, and strive to tackle it head on.
Be kind, you never know what someone else is going through. 4 out of 5 people are struggling with something.
Ask more than one, when asked “how are you?” most of our instinct response is I’m fine, how are you? - if you ask more than once your more inclined to get a real response that could just help the person…

An interesting thought to leave you with:
Our human brains were evolved to react more strongly to negative experiences than positive ones. It kept us safe from danger.. But in modern days, where physical danger is minimal, it often just gets in the way humans have to work harder to defeat the natural negative mind set.
