I'd like to share my experience of visiting the Tarifa Ruta del Atun..
The seas in this area contain red tuna fish, some of the best tuna in the world. As it is now tuna season, the towns surrounding the seas take part in the Ruta Del Atun Festival.
Today, I visited the surfer beach town Tarifa for my first experience with the Ruta! So, 34 restaurants sign up to the 8th running of the festival in 2022. You are given a passport/map which has a list of all the restaurants along with a photo and the name of their signature dish. Each dish costs €4 and you have choice of red or white wine or beer.
These restaurants are divided into four ‘zones’ according to colour: blue, yellow, red and green. The idea is for you to vote for your favourite per zone.

Restaurant 8 - BAR PEPA POTELLA

Restaurant 9 - BAR SECRET SPOT
Signature Dish: ATUN EN 3 SALSAS
Restaurant 10 - BAR LA ANTIGUA

My ultimate favourite had to be number 6 at Santai, I look forward to returning for another tuna brioche!
What an experience this was, I have done many bar crawls but can say this was my first restaurant crawl. This was an unplanned day, I woke up and decided to do this late morning. Once reaching the 4th restaurant and 4th glass of wine, I realised driving home was not an option. So spontaneously managed to book the last room in a private hostel in Tarifa town. Luckily I could then carry on and make it to my 10th restaurant.
