Have you heard about the idea of "romanticizing life" ?
The idea behind it all is basically making something ordinary seem extraordinary, just like its own definition from the word "romanticize".
Buying a strawberry from the roadside is an ordinary thing. Yet I've seen a couple of movies where they romanticize the idea of buying and make it seem like it's a fun thing to do and the strawberries are more delicious than the store bought. And because of that, growing up, I always dreamed of doing that.
Finally last week, when my family and I drove around a mountainous area, there were plenty of roadside strawberry stands. I told my dad to stop at a small stall with a breathtaking view of the hills. The strawberries were luscious red. They were slightly bigger than the common strawberries I found at the supermarket. The strawberries were placed on a plastic bucket but some wrapped in a plastic box. My mom and I got a bucket and a few packaged ones for home while I snack on the bucket ones. They taste pretty alright although some of them were slightly sour. I also don’t forget to wash them with bottled water that we have. It’s really not ideal but that’s all I had at that moment.
While enjoying the strawberries, I also take pictures of the hills and the cafes that we passed by. It's unfortunate that we can't stop and sit on the rooftop of those cafes. There’s one cafe called “ the bridge” . It looks pretty nice from the outside and I reckon, they named it that way because of its location that’s just next to a bridge.
Maybe one day I'll get the chance to do this kind of road trip again. It was a fun road trip and I scratched another list on my bucket list of things I have to do at least once.
Do you romanticize your life?
For the best experience view this post on Liketu
I would have...if I knew a bit about romanticizing...I've actually just been living my life a little to plainly, maybe, if I'd seen a post this beautiful earlier in my life maybe I would have learnt. I have now though.
The strawberries are beautiful and like you said, you made it seem a lot more tasty than they actually are, I'm hungry for a bite...
Some times I'm jealous how you get to do things with your family, fun things...I miss that..truely .
Don't worry, the bottle water was enough, you'll be alright my dear
Thanks for sharing ❤️
That's where the idea of romanticizing your life should be inserted. It adds some spices to our mundane routine and even to things that seems normal.
Truth is, I do not see my family often, I only see them at least once every 2 or 3 years with an exception of my mom that I often see a few times a year now. So, while I can still see both of them at the same time, why not do something fun together? it's really going to be a while before I can see them again.
Have a great weekend !
I called that living "poetically", as the ability to break the daily rhythm and fill it with new experiences and sensations. And it is certainly more than a whim a necessity: routine envelops us in many ways throughout life, and poetry, beyond literature, also has an expression in reality that can serve us.
Here he left you a text that I shared on my personal blog on the subject. It is in Spanish, but I think it is worth using the translator;)

I'll give it a read! it seems like an interesting read and I understand a bit of Spanish. So, I can use your article to exercise my understanding and reading comprehension. Thanks for checking out my post.
So do you feel roadside strawberries taste better?
I do that a lot too. The same way I think party jollof-rice taste special compared to home cooked jollof rice.
They taste better than store bought but some were way sour than it should. I swear, I've seen jollof rice somewhere. What's so special about party jollof rice? is it because the people you were having it with?
Yeah I guessed that some would be sour... Stores tries too hard to avoid that.
No, the method of cooking is different. Firstly, it is prepared for a large number of people compared to homemade which is for a few persons. They try to put more spice and cheaper ingredients and make the rice a bit burned. It's weird why we grew up prefering the odd rice. I think the party plays a role too.
Lol, I just typed rubbish. .I guess there isn't any valid explanation... We just like it 😅
Oh, man. The hills along with the skyscape in your photos look gorgeous, I could probably just lay on the ground and watch the sky there and slowly rot in peace :)
Yeah, That would be really nice. Either way, I enjoyed the car ride that time 😃
The strawberries make me drool and I actually craving strawberries about a year now.
Fruit that makes anyone will be tempted to eat it because of its appearance, but when we eat it tastes very sour if in our country. 😁
