Every year in my school, different cultures set a day to celebrate their cultures and traditions. I haven't had the time to the attend the rest events due to some engagements that has been taking much of my time, I jst took out time today to attend OFA Cultural day as today marks the end of the cultural display for the year.
The OFA people are the Yoruba speaking tribe of Kwara state, Nigeria. I always look forward to the OFA Cultural day, as it has always been fascinating all the way. The people, their cultural attires, their foods, everything about the OFA people is amazing.
About today's event, it was a memorable one as usual, although I arrived at the event a little late, I'd thought the event would have started, but I was glad it was just starting when I came in, because I planned not to miss out on anything. When I came in, most of the seats were taken especially the good spots, I felt a bit bad, as I had hoped to get a good sit in front of course, while I was looking around for where to put myself, I sighted a sit close to the front, I proceeded to sit, when I got there, I was told the sit was for someone, so I said I will get up when the person comes of which I had no intention of standing up even if the person comes because it was a very good spot, so I sat down to enjoy the show properly.
Their cultural dance was the one thing that I always look forward to every year, how the ladies wiggle their waists, it was just an interesting sight to behold, they danced for almost an hour, and I'd wondered if they took energy drink before the performance because at a point I got tired on their behalf. It was an energetic and delightful performance, they also acted a drama, but they dialogued in their native language and I was lost because I don't understand what they were saying I was just watching their movements without understanding a thing, I sensed the person sitting next to me is one of them, so I asked her to please engage me in what the drama was all about, so she explained to me. Lest I forget, there was refreshments, my favorite part in an event, I didn't remember to take pictures, sorry, the food was so inviting that I couldn't think of any other thing at that moment, all I wanted to do at that moment was to devour the sumptuous meal in front of me.
Generally, the event was superb, everything was on point, from the decorations, the sound system, the master of the occasion, everything was on check, I really enjoyed my self, and I am looking forward to next year's OFA day God's Willing.
Thanks for the read.
A man I worked for is a lecturer in OFFA polytechnic and he speaks well about the OFA people culture. I can tell you had a great time watching those dance moves and the food is always the best part of every event.
