These Circle K are to Bali like 7-11 are to Thailand, and there are no 7-Elevens here, only Circle-K. Go to when the meal is 'snacks and instant noodles in the room'
Co-working space with good coffee, and a very spacious and stylish layout. Feels like a big Start-up. You can pay them to sit there and fake it until you make it! Welcome to my office ahhahaha
The French often get it right. This place built up over a big rice paddy, catches amazing views. A great spot for a late afternoon lunch.
Dues Ex Machina do an excellent selection of Western dishes, in gourmet style. Catch the art gallery to work up an appetite first.
More idyllic looking properties you will surely not find ... not a lunch spot, but I'd sure like to be invited in for tea!
At Smoked garage, excellent coffee and biscuits, and a really stylish hat that got eaten by a dog that very same day. I was gutted.
Kayuapi is a MUST for trying out the best bakery products and they do a french breakfast omelette set you will surely not regret. Trust the French to make things so gentrified around here.
Interior of Kayuapi bakery, Bali.
Next stop, Ubud ... the 'nirvana' for yogists and vegans, I think ..
Island Paradise
Life in the hands of Gods
With volcanoes, earthquakes, and rip tides, Bali can kill you. That much we established in a previous musings all about this spectacular island. It's a large island also, it takes almost a day to cross it by car. From almost anywhere with unobstructed views to the North, you can witness the huge cone shape of the volcano jutting into the sky. Should that thing go off properly ('is been sleeping a century or something, i believe*) an understatement would say life would be badly affected. A big understatement. Not that it didn't already happen with tsunamis and volcanoes over many centuries past, of which wisened elderlies know the folklore, destruction and recreation are a part of life here.
Colors and Cultures
That goes part of the way to explaining all the color, creativity, and spirituality seen all over the place - like life is at the whim of the Gods. What a place, I can't wait to go again. And hopefully not when it has one of it's historically massive natural disasters.
Lunch/Breakfast Time
Following are a set of photographs taken around lesser seen areas of Bali, up near Kerobukan, Canngu, and one or two are from Ubud. Mostly with a theme, what I was eating. There's still many more memories from a month spent on the island, so follow to catch more soon!
Reminder
Don't forget to check the photo captions in case i accidently came up with something witty! There's always a chance.
