Dear Hiver
Cuba's national electrical system collapsed on Friday evening, due to a breakdown in an electrical substation in Havana, which first caused the western part of the country to go down and then the electrical collapse in the whole country. It has taken almost 48 hours for power to return in my city.
This creates countless difficulties for daily life. Especially in this country where most of the population uses electricity for cooking, where the gas supply is also unstable and scarce for the majority. The fewest have gasoline plants, but most turn to charcoal.
In my case I use electricity for cooking and when these prolonged outages like this one happen, it becomes necessary to resort to old cooking methods. As harmful as it is to breathe the smoke produced by the combustion of wood, it is a practical alternative for cooking food, which I dont like to use frequently...
But we must always focus on the fact that in spite of everything, the beauty of nature, with its wisdom and millenary beauty, always accompanies us. I tell you that I discovered that when the cities are turned off in the sky appear thousands of stars that until then were invisible to our eyes, creating a wonderful spectacle of constellations and shooting stars.... So I also want to share with you photos of the moon taken in those hours when the whole city is dark and then looking at the sky we discover the beauty that always surrounds us...
Maybe you live in a small country town and you already know what I'm talking about, or you are a traveler who likes to camp outdoors and lie on your back enjoying the beauty of the sky. But if you are not one of them, I invite you to take a few days away from the city to discover the beautiful paradise that for millennia has illuminated the dreams of men.
The images are my property. Taken with my Motog82 cell phone.
