Who loves a HOTpot?
When I moved to Birmingham about 4 years ago, I was worried about the food scene here. I did not live in London prior to this, but I was in the outskirts so I could drive into central in about 45-60 mins in my car, or take public transport and it would take approx 20 mins to get into kings cross. (Can you guess the town I lived in before Birmingham?)
My worry about moving to Birmingham though was very short lived as it has such a vibrant food culture here. Every time I am on Instragram I keep seeing some local food bloggers post about some new restaurant popping off and I add it to my "must try" list.
雄柒 XiongQi Hotpot Birmingham - was no exception. As soon as I saw the pictures on Instagram, I knew I had to try it. It did not disappoint! If you are ever in Birmingham, I would recommend this place in China town. It is called 雄柒 XiongQi Hotpot Birmingham - Unit 3B, 44 Essex St, Birmingham B5 4TR. - visit their website to see more https://www.xiongqi.co.uk/

As an ignorant londoner, I find it hard to read "China Town" and picture anywhere except the one in London, even though I know there are China Towns in Birmingham, Manchester and probably a few other cities.
This Hotpot looks like a welcome change from the Haidilao that has now monopolised London Hot Potting.
London Food Culture will always be the best in the UK, so always find myself comparing too. But Birmingham is also really good. If you need any recommendations let me know 👍🏼
as a pure Hong Kong Chinese, I'll say, yeah, I am into the Hot Pot for sure, the foods look good, but cannot tell the soup base from the picture, should be ok as well 😃
Hey AT, I cannot remember exactly but what I do remember if one side was Extra Spicy and the other was not hahaha I really like spicy food, but sometimes I get it more spicy than I need too 🔥 haha I Love HK, food there was at a different level 😍 I am so happy Din Tai Fung has opened In London last year!
Hi, I can tell one side was spicy from your picture, the other side should be tomato soup based ? Unfortunately I am not able to take spicy food, I will go urgent diarrhea after having spicy stuff.
How many times had you been to Hong Kong before COVID? hopefully you still like Hong Kong after the CCP launched the national security law in HK with tighter self-censorship. Some of my friend left HK especially my British friends, they though HK changed too much in the past 2 years, so sad to seeing they leave me.
Wow, sounds you are really into Chinese foods, Din Tai Fung is nice, I tried once in Taiwan before. 😃
Yes that was it!! Tomato soup tastes good when it is not burning your mouth for sure, although it was a bit bland I thought 🤣
I like spicy when you can taste other things. But when your moth is burning, it kind of ruins the tasty food I think! haha you could have just put it gives you an upset stomach, but thanks for the info😝😂
I only was able to visit Hong Kong once, back in 2018. It was beautiful, the people were so kind and friendly. I will post some pictures of when I was in Hong Kong maybe on Liketu! To be honest, I do not have much to say about CCP as I am not well informed on it. However, my colleague moved from HK to London because of it and she said she was sad to see it change the way it has. Which makes me sad that people are leaving such an amazing place! In the future, if I have the chance to visit HK - I will 100%!
I love asian food - I find western food so bland and boring compared to Asian food 😍
I prefer tomato based in this situation 😂
I used to eat spicy, somehow I suddenly can't suffer it anymore so I stopped eating spicy for 13 years.
You visited Hong Kong in good time when considering they were yet to tighter everything, the vibes was still ok in Hong Kong back in 2018. So I guess you had a good experience in Hong Kong.
Yeah I want to see you post your visit in Hong Kong to see how would you introduce my home, you know, I always introduce some weird stuff that the visitors might not have interested in, or they might not willing to spend time for such tedious stuff as they don't have so much time as we local people do.
Well, I love both Asian and Western foods, I always took my wife for the Italian / Spanish / German restaurants, of course I took her for Japanese cuisine more
Thanks Edi, it was as tasty as it looks! Your pictures are awesome too, keep those Macro shots coming 👍🏼👏🏼
