I love this photo, it is one of the sections of the railway that became obsolete during the 20th century. You can walk along the road without fear of being run over!
It's a sunny day in my town, time for a profile pic! Thanks all for read and learn more about my city!
First of all, thank you all very much for the great welcome you gave me yesterday on #Liketu! I'm looking forward to posting pictures of my travels around the world. To do this, I armed myself with my beloved Sony a6300 and my SIGMA 35mm lens, my favorite lens. I have to say that this lens is VERY bright and is perfect for medium range video, which is why I take it on all my trips.
Today I want to tell you about my hometown, Seville. A large and ancient city in the south of Spain that has centuries of history, with great cultural and tourist importance. So get ready for a bit of history.
Sneak peak about Seville
Much is said about the origin of Seville, in fact it is somewhat confusing since it has always been associated with the incredible Tharsis, the hometown of the Tartessos. In fact, the most accurate theory about its name and origin goes back to the demigod Hercules (Heracles in its Greek name) when it was called Hispalis.
Seville has been and is the cradle of civilizations, Turdetans, Carthaginians, Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Goths, Almoravids have passed through its lands, we have even defeated the Viking ships a few kilometers from the city!
During the 16th century was the explosion of the "Spanish Golden Age" thanks to the discovery of America and such was the wealth that was obtained that it was one of the most populated cities of the time with about 150,000 inhabitants.
Seville stands out for its baroque architecture and its recent "regionalist" style from the beginning of the 20th century. Artists such as Valdés Leal, Zurbarán, Murillo, Velázquez and many more have brought the name of the city to the exponent of culture in Spain and Europe.
And that is why, and for many more reasons, why you have to visit Seville at some time in your life.
