Being a field operations employee in telecommunication in a country like Pakistan is really a challenging and tough job where power crisis is increasing day by day. Today, I would like to share a routine field activity of replacing a cracked diesel generator head which is a very technical task and only expert mechanical technician can do it.
This generator was heating up and burning head gaskit multiple times. I ask my expert mechanic to visit and share the root cause of high fault ratio. It was diagnosed by him that DG Head was cracked after opening the engine. Spare Head was arranged and provided to him to get it replaced. He opened and disassembled old Head, installed new head along with gaskit and reassembled the engine head.
Snaps of all steps taken to replace Head is pasted for the community. Now this generator is kept under observation and under monitoring to avoid any other fault. In this hot season it really is a tough job to keep the generators running and operational.
