El camuflaje de la zarigüeya / The opossum camouflage

Traigo una bolsa gigante,
con elementos grandes,
la dejó en un mesón de la casa
y me marcho sin preocuparme por nada,
son solo papas, seguro no saldrá nada.

I bring a giant bag,
with large items,
I leave it on a counter in the house
and I leave without worrying about anything,
it's just potatoes, and nothing will come out of it.

Sin embargo, sí sale algo,
una papa color pardo,
no está sola, lleva en sus manos,
una zarigüeya de tono grisáceo
y se van, sin ser autorizados.

However, something does come out,
a brownish potato,
it is not alone, it carries in its hands,
a possum of grayish tone
and they leave, without being authorized.

La papa parda a la zarigüeya lleva,
donde sus primas amarillentas,
entre ellas la deja y espera,
a que el marsupial haga la escogencia,
de un disfraz que bien la proteja.

The brown potato to the possum leads,
where her yellowish cousins,
among them it leaves it and waits,
for the marsupial to make the choice,
of a disguise that will protect her well.

La zarigüeya sale muy bien camuflada,
con un atuendo lleno de gracia,
ahora el animal parece una amarilla papa
y los dos regresan a la bolsa, su morada,
donde viven las otras papas pardas.

The opossum comes out very well camouflaged,
with an outfit full of grace,
now the animal looks like a yellow potato
and the two return to the bag, their abode,
where the brown potatoes live.

Yo regreso por mi bolsa,
finjo que no me di cuenta de la historia,
eso sí, les confesaré algo,
no fui capaz de cocinar estos alimentos preciados
y los dejé en un parque abandonados,
para que sigan sus aventuras en otro lado.

I go back for my bag,
I pretend I didn't notice the story,
but I will confess something,
I was not able to cook these precious foodstuffs
and I left them in a park abandoned,
so they can continue their adventures elsewhere.
