Starting my vegetable garden in September was a long-held dream turned into reality. Visiting the local nursery with limited knowledge about vegetable plants, I chose seedlings of patty pans, broccoli, and lettuce. With the soil prepared and the seedlings neatly planted in rows, my husband set up a sprinkling system, and we crossed our fingers for a successful garden.
To our surprise, the patty pans thrived abundantly, growing as large as burger buns and spreading their happiness across the garden. Encouraged by this success, I decided to expand the garden further. Cherry tomatoes, spinach, cucumber, and green peppers joined the vegetable family.
The anticipation of watching these new additions grow and flourish adds an extra layer of excitement to each day. As they develop, I eagerly await the day when I can harvest and enjoy the literal fruits of my labor. Stay tuned for updates on the progress of these newcomers to my vegetable haven!
Those patty pans look amazing ! I've never seen them here in the UK, most things like that need to be grown in greenhouses to even have a chance at success. Do you use them in cooking and salads like green and red peppers ?
Thank you. We cook patty pans in stews and I've only recently discover that some people eat them raw in salads. I tried it but it really tasted like nothing with a strange texture so I prefer them cooked ;)
Amazing! I would give my left toe for this! I tried to grow butternut but they fell off before they grew bigger. What is your secret?! Keep well.
Perhaps they would appreciate your left toe as fertiliser. 😜
haha thats really funny but can we please keep our toes to ourselves please ;)
Oh damn, isn’t there a trend of people getting buried with trees over their graves? There might be some truth to it!
thank you! Don't really have a secret and to be honest the patty pans were the plants I was guaranteed wont survive under my care... My husband installed a sprinkling system a few weeks ago and we've noticed that all our veggie plants love and thrive eon the fine mist water rather than just watering them normally.
Oh that is interesting! Will try that when I get back home. Thank you for the reply!
