The Konfraternia Przyjaciół Book Clubu met yesterday at @krolestwo and agreed on a number of initiatives to make the Bookclub more popular. Here is a short summary of yesterday's meeting:

  1. It would be helpful to have an entry on the Hive blockchain dedicated to the description of what the Bookclub is. This way, the Boocklub could be advertised by sharing this post directly.
    • So far, there is no official channel for advertising the bookclub activities, but this could change in the future (either by using the @ksiazki account, or by creating a new Hive account). Using this account (or @lpa, where - as of today - all voting have been run) would probably create some confusion.
    • The ad-hoc post would prove very helpful to spread the news of the Bookclub existence. For example, members of the Confraternity can send the link to their friends on Facebook, Whatsapp or whatever else the 21st century offers us. On a sidenote, it seems someone else tried to found a book club in Kraków (without much success it seems). We should definitely let Anya know we exist!
  2. The Bookclub could very well be advertised at Rajska. I was once in the foreign books section of Rajska (to collect an Italian copy of the Gattopardo) and I remember taking up a leaflet for a bookclub in Kraków on the main desk. The bookclub was no longer active (good for us, less competition), but the idea was very good because it's an easy way to reach potential newcomers. To advertise our Bookclub we could use the postcards available at @krolestwo and invite Rajska readers with a personalised message. Each member of the Confraternity could write a different message to have some variety. Below an attempt from my side; my handwriting is not very fancy, I think it looks nicer using a typewriter.

3 . The CRT monitor at @krolestwo is no longer working. However, several working ones can be bought quite cheaply on Allegro or OLX. I am of the idea that the Confraternity could make some very good use of such a device and advertise the Bookclub to passerby. I can volunteer for the payment (but you are most welcome to join me on this!).

4 . Other initiatives could be envisaged, such as the old idea of using leaves to promote the Bookclub or other proposals that may come to your mind. I suggest to discuss these next time the Confraternity will meet, which has not been decided yet. Soon though. Stay alert! LPA

Sort:

Been quite busy lately, but if no one else can be bothered, I could write the short introductory post about the Book Club and send it to you so you can check and proofread it before it gets published.

The idea with postcards is fantastic. I could check if they can be distributed at my museum, in the Jagiellonian Library and the University Bookstore on św. Anny Street.

Thank you! Actually, the main issue with the introductory post is the account from which we want to publish it, for both @lpa and @lorenc are quite unofficial channels and it may be confusing for newcomers to see the bookclub advertised on such channels. An option, would be that of using the @ksiazki account, or something else created ad-hoc for the bookclub.

I'd suggest the Konfraternia to meet again to discuss this and the other points raised in the post.

You are right that we could leave the postcards in a lot of other places!
