Sunday Run | Sunny Weather | Retiring my shoes!

My next marathon is approaching which will be my 4th marathon within one year - which is a lot more than the two marathons I normally target a year!Hi all, welcome back to my #running blog!

On april 13th the NN Marathon Rotterdam takes place. Which is the marathon from my hometown. Here I aim to set a time below 3:22:00, which I currently feel should be achievable - but we still have some work to do!

This week my focus was on family time and resting a bit. My weekly km got to 40 so the next few week I will increase the kilometers gradually to 80-90 km before starting my taper weeks. The few extra days of resting helped me set a new PR on the 10km and Half Marathon last friday. So I definitely feel the progress of the multiple training blocks last year.

Tomorrow I got an appointment to get new shoes - my two training pairs are both long overdue but you should break in the new shoes gradually aswell. So first new pair tomorrow!

To illustrate the damage on these shoes:

On the two pairs combined I did 2300km last year. But do to the multiple marathons in a row I could not find time to break new shoes in properly. Now I feel I have no choice to replace at least one pair before Rotterdam (hoping they don’t cause bigger blisters issues).

Today I did a shorter run of 12km in sunny weather. Which was very nice! I took a route on paved and unpaved roads and a few km open fields.

Whereas I didn’t have a goal pace today I aimed to stay in my zone 3 heartrate zone (150 - 162 BPM). Which felt good!

Happy Running!
