The true patience // La verdadera paciencia [ENG-ESP]
Some people wish that pharmacies sold it in capsules💊, or that there was a plant whose fruit 🍎would give it when consumed. I am referring to patience. Not a few admit that it is often very difficult for them to display it😡. This issue comes to my mind when I see this image captured with my Samsung ST500 camera on a trip. With it I want to show how we perceive the patience that others show and the benefits it brings.
When we passed by this individual, the driver of our boat told us that he was not stranded, but waiting for the moment to take out his fishing equipment to get his precious product. At that moment I felt empathy for him. The heat, the scorching sun, the loneliness, the silence, the uncertainty? All of this present at that moment, but he was there, with his definite purpose. How long had he been there? How long was he missing? Although we move forward, it is one of the things that we then discuss among those present, we know better, we draw lessons and try to learn. Certainly one of the things that stands out is patience.
Algunos quisieran que las farmacias la vendieran en capsulas💊, o que hubiera una planta cuyo fruto🍎 lo otorgara al consumirlo. Me refiero a la paciencia. No pocos admiten que suele resultarles muy difícil desplegarla😡. Éste asunto viene a mi mente al ver ésta imagen capturada con mi cámara Samsung ST500 en un viaje. Con ella quiero mostrar cómo percibimos la paciencia que otros muestran y los beneficios que aporta.
Cuando pasamos cerca de éste individuo, el conductor de nuestro bote nos dijo que no estaba varado, sino que esperaba el momento para poder sacar su equipo de pesca y así obtener su apreciado producto. En ése momento sentí empatía por él. El calor, el sol abrasador, la soledad, el silencio, la incertidumbre... Todo esto presente en ése momento, pero él ahí, con su propósito definido. ¿Cuánto tiempo llevaba allí? ¿Cuánto le faltaba? Aunque nosotros avanzamos, es una de las cosas que luego comentamos entre los presentes, conocemos mejor, sacamos lecciones y procuramos aprender. Sin duda, una de las cosas que sobresalen es la paciencia.
Patience implies hope. Of course, otherwise, why are you still waiting? Why are you still there? It is because you have hope that what you expect will happen. You must resist the factors that invite you to end the wait. In the case of this fisherman, high temperatures invite one to leave; seeking the company of others also tempts one to end the journey; and negative thoughts may assault the mind: "Let it go this far," "It doesn't look like you'll succeed today," "It's not worth waiting any longer," "You can try again tomorrow. What pressure! Only hope turns down the volume on those thoughts. If you want to be patient, hope must protect your mind. This is how many manage to get through difficult situations. Families are saved, jobs are saved, health is improved, a bad patch ends.... That which they were waiting for so long, finally happened.
La paciencia implica esperanza. Claro, sino, ¿por qué sigues esperando? ¿Por qué sigues allí? Es porque tienes esperanza de que sucederá lo que esperas. Debe uno resistir los factores que invitan a finalizar la espera. En el caso de éste pescador, las altas temperaturas invitan a irse; buscar la compañía de otros también tientan a terminar la jornada; y los pensamientos negativos pudieran asaltar la mente: "Déjalo hasta aquí", "Hoy no parece que tendrás éxito", "No vale la pena seguir esperando", "Mañana puedes intentarlo de nuevo". ¡Qué presión! Sólo la esperanza le baja el volumen a ésos pensamientos. Si quieres tener paciencia, la esperanza debe proteger tu mente. Así muchos logran sobrellevar situaciones difíciles. Se salvan familias, se conservan empleos, se mejora la salud, termina una mala racha... Eso que tanto esperaban, finalmente ocurrió.
Patience is a sign of love for others. Think about it, is the fisherman thinking only about the fish he will eat? Not at all! He will have his beloved family very much in mind. Showing up empty-handed at home is not within his means, whether he takes those fish for his own consumption, or sells them to buy what he needs. So your pure feelings add minutes to the limit your mind set to finish the job that day. His family may not know what that peculiar wait entails. But you don't care, and you won't waste energy trying to explain it to them and make them understand. Your love for them will be felt, touched, and smelled.... Yes, when they fry that fish to go with that hot arepa! 🤤 Waiting for love? Of course, it even sounds like a movie title. For things like this people wait for their better half, or stand by another with loyalty in the midst of a difficult process, or are willing to sacrifice their time, energy or resources for the ones they love. But can you be happy doing it? Let's talk about the latter.
La paciencia es una muestra de amor a otros. Piénsalo. ¿Está el pescador pensando sólo en el pescado que se comerá él? ¡En lo absoluto! Tendrá muy presente su amada familia. Aparecerse con las manos vacías en su casa no está dentro de sus posibilidades, sea que lleve esos pescados para su propio consumo, o que los venda para comprar lo necesario. Así que sus puros sentimientos agregan minutos al límite que estableció su mente para terminar el trabajo ése día. Puede que su familia no conozcan lo que encierra esa peculiar espera. Pero no le importa, y no desperdiciará energía tratando de explicárselo y procurar que lo entiendan. Su amor por ellos se sentirá, se palpará y también se olerá... ¡Sí, cuando frían ése pescado para acompañarlo con arepa caliente!🤤 ¿Esperar por amor? Por supuesto, hasta suena a título de película. Por cosas así las personas esperan a su media naranja, o permanecen al lado de otro con lealtad en medio de un proceso difícil, o están dispuestos a sacrificar su tiempo, energías o recursos por los que ama. Pero, ¿se puede ser feliz haciéndolo? Hablemos de éste último aspecto.
True patience goes hand in hand with a positive attitude. Imagine this man if, while waiting, he rests a cheek on his clenched fist, frowning, thinking about the things he could be doing instead of standing there, complaining about the heat, feeling sorry for himself.... Does he look patient?😊 Rather, he looks bitter, unhappy...😤 Even if he stays there for a long time and gets the same results, he is not displaying true patience. How can you have hope and love, but at the same time bitterness and resignation? It is oil and water. The patient does not lose his joy, nor does he fall prey to bad emotions and feelings. Accept that waiting is a necessity. What is in the patient's mind? How much he will enjoy it when the problem that overwhelms him is over, how others are supporting him in the time elapsed, the appreciation for the product he will get, the value of continuing to be productive for himself and others... he keeps his attitude positive.
La verdadera paciencia lleva de la mano una actitud positiva. Imagina a éste hombre si, mientras espera, posa una mejilla sobre su puño cerrado, con el ceño fruncido, pensando en las cosas que pudiera estar haciendo en vez de estar ahí, quejándose por el calor, compadeciéndose de sí mismo... ¿Luce como alguien paciente? 😊 Más bien parece amargado, infeliz...😤 Aunque permanezca allí durante un tiempo prolongado y obtenga los mismos resultados, no está desplegando la verdadera paciencia. ¿Cómo puedes tener esperanza y amor, pero al mismo tiempo amargura y resignación? Es agua y aceite. El paciente no pierde su alegría, ni cae presa de los malas emociones y sentimientos. Acepta que esperar es una necesidad. ¿Qué está en la mente de la persona paciente? Lo mucho que disfrutará cuando acabe el problema que lo agobia, cómo otros están apoyándolo en el tiempo transcurrido, el aprecio por el producto que obtendrá, el valor de seguir siendo alguien productivo para sí mismo y los demás... conserva su actitud positiva.
Patience is not resignation, it is hope, love, attitude? Other things too, but I don't want to make this post longer. We can all show it. Perhaps it could be seen as something very difficult, and that to achieve it you need a higher power. Well, you won't be the first or the last one to get it that way, so it is also valid. Be happy exercising real patience.
La paciencia no es resignación, es esperanza, amor, actitud... También otras cosas más, pero no quiero alargar más éste post. Todos podemos mostrarla. Quizás pudiera verse como algo muy difícil, y que para lograrlo se necesita un poder superior. Bueno, no serias el primero ni el último que lo obtenga de ésa forma, así que también es válido. Sé feliz ejerciendo paciencia de verdad.
