The 100-Day Project 2.0 — Day 22: Continuing With What I Started Yesterday

in GEMS3 days ago

So, I am doing The 100-Day Project Challenge again; my second attempt at this creativity "habit building" exercise. You can read more at the above link; or just choose "a creative thing" to pursue for 100 consecutive days... and then use #the100dayproject as one of your first three tags so others on Hive and other social media can find you!

Today is Day 22.

So far, I have actually painted quite a few stones since starting the 100-Day Project!

Just a Little Bit Every Day:

Reminding myself, with this project, that one of my initial bits of "rule bending" was that I was going to be open to cutting myself some slack because I know my time is variable and not consistent. If I have important deadlines, I just can't justify giving time to a "personal project" like this.

And so, I'm sure there will be many more days where I will have two and possibly even 3 or 4 days combined into a single post. In some ways, being able to do a post that just covers one day almost feels like a luxury!

Today was a bit of a low energy day around here — in no way related to a Super Bowl hangover — so I allowed myself to take it easy with the creative stuff, as well. After all, most of this stuff is no good if it's forced.

Working on the large stone, I aded the lines that create a spiral/pinwheel effect.

Today's Creative Endeavor:

Creativity today basically consisted of two things.

The first thing was continuing to work on the very large stone I started yesterday.

I continued by adding the lines it created the illusion of a spiral or pinwheel design at the center of the stone, finished off the edge of the pinwheel and now I need to decide how to divide up the colors for the remainder of the design.

In my mind's eye I'm seeing something that is a bit like the arms of a spiral Galaxy but I'm not quite sure how that's going to play out.

The second thing was continuing with my plan of painting at least one small to medium sized stone a day as well.

For some reason, I have recently been rather fascinated by the combination of gold purple an orientation so that manifested in today's stone which turned out fairly well although it is definitely an unusual color set.

At least I'm going to pat myself on the back for keeping up with painting a stone a day!

As you can see from the top photo, the 100 day project is definitely working in terms of creative output! All those stones in the first photo have been painted since I started doing this a little over three weeks ago.

Social Media Musings:

As I did my daily tweet, it really set in how none of these tweets make more than about two to five impressions. Except that one time when I use a slightly misspelled tag that apparently has a lot more following.

Some kind of esoteric gaming is in, painting on rocks is out!

Final Thoughts for Today:

Even though I'm 22 days in, I'm still waiting for that point where it starts to feel natural to be doing this every day. Alas, that point has not been reached yet.

I know I can't rush this process. On the other hand I also know I have very limited time to spend with it every day. It's all a matter of finding balance now.

I appreciate you coming to visit and please do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

Thank You!
