Hello everyone, it is exciting to have a space where to share something as personal as the experience of being a migrant, but I think it is a therapy for me, since I write things that have already happened, it allows me to analyze them and in some way serve as inspiration for my present.
It was 2019, Bernardo and I had been married for 1 and a half years and the very critical social and economic situation in Venezuela became too hostile for me, and a personal tragedy was the trigger that made us definitely make the decision to leave the country, but since it was an option for both of us for a long time, we had already regularized all our documents and had them apostilled, since we did not want to leave illegally, understanding that this closes much more opportunities for you and makes it much more difficult to path of what already is.
Thinking and debating in which country we would go to and seeing the experiences of friends who already left long before us, we made the decision that it was Ecuador, since Bernardo's father and his wife and other relatives lived there and we wanted to be close of close people, although never with the intention of being financially helped by anyone.
In that way we began to do everything that involves moving to another country, from selling the few things we had until now, quitting our jobs, saying goodbye to our relatives, and informing ourselves as much as possible through videos of how the trip should be done. and all that conglomerate of errands that must be done. Precisely from the presidency of Ecuador, I announced that in August of that year, a VISA would be requested from Venezuelans to enter, and we had planned to leave in September, which made us anticipate it and not be able to sell everything, in the end we managed to have $ 600 that Very honestly, it is a lot of money if we compare it with most of my compatriots who have had to go out even walking, so when we had everything ready, we bought the ticket Cumaná-Puerto La Cruz, which would be our first bus of the entire route, in the next post I will tell you then how was that trip we made by road from Cumaná to Quito!
