El pasado miércoles me encontraba en la Universidad Experimental Libertador, recién había terminado mis clases por lo cual fui a control de estudio para buscar unos papeles que había solicitado. Tuve que esperar a que llegase el internet para que pudiesen imprimir mis papeles ya que al parecer tenían todo eso en los correos y estaban esperando a que los pidiese para imprimirlos. Por lo que junto con una compañera nos pusimos a explorar la universidad (o lo que queda de ella). En ese instante recordé que en el área de biología había un pequeño estanque con 2 pececitos, por lo cual decidí ir a verlos.
Last Wednesday I was at the Universidad Experimental Libertador, I had just finished my classes so I went to study control to get some papers that I had requested. I had to wait for the internet to arrive so that they could print my papers because apparently they had all that in the mail and were waiting for me to ask for them to print them. So together with a classmate we set out to explore the university (or what was left of it). At that moment I remembered that in the biology area there was a small pond with 2 little fishes, so I decided to go and see them.
Al llegar al área de biología, nos encontramos con un profesor cuyo nombre lastimosamente no logré memorizar, el cual mi compañera reconoció ya que es un viejo conocido. Comenzamos ha hablar de un par de cosas y sacamos el tema de lo descuidada que está la universidad. Le preguntamos por los peces y el nos respondió:"-Que va! hace tiempo que se los llevaron.-" Eso me hizo sentir un poco mal, era de los pocas cosas bonitas que quedaban en esa área. Incluso aprovecharon para limpiar el estanque el cual se encontraba muy sucio y drenaron el agua estancada.
*When we got to the biology area, we met a professor whose name I unfortunately could not memorize, but my classmate recognized him as he is an old acquaintance. We started talking about a couple of things and we brought up the subject of how neglected the university is. We asked him about the fish and he replied, "No way, they've been taken away for a long time". That made me feel a little bad, it was one of the few nice things left in that area. They even took the opportunity to clean the pond which was very dirty and they drained the stagnant water. *
Entonces a medida que veíamos el área, el profesor nos lleva lo que parecía ser el cobertizo donde se encuentra los breques y el cableado de toda el área, abrió la puerta que se veía maltratada y forcejeada y dijo:-Vean y juzguen ustedes mismos...-
Then as we looked around the area, the professor took us to what appeared to be the shed where the wiring and wiring for the entire area is located, opened the door which looked battered and bruised and said: Look and judge for yourselves...-.
Según el profesor, apenas pasabas por ahí ya sentías la piel erizada y un ruido constante de la consola la cual aun funcionaba. Pero la delincuencia acabó con eso y se robó todo el cobre del cableado y vandalizaron todo. Un ingeniero eléctrico fue a revisar los daños y dijo que restaurarlo costaba aproximadamente 30.000$, los cuales serán difíciles de proveer gracias al problema que hay con el gobierno y la crisis que está enfrentando el país. El profesor nos dijo que desde el sector que está detrás de la universidad llamado "La Pedrera" los antisociales cortaron la electricidad que surte esa área y una vez la dejaron inactiva se metieron y sacaron todo el cobre dejando nada más las consolas vacías. No quiero buscar un culpable ni nada similar, pero ningún ratero se atrevería a robar cobre de esa manera, y tampoco se arriesgaría a cortar la electricidad así, es lógico que es gente experta y conocedora del tema de cableado. Dejare que ustedes amigos juzguen ustedes bajo su criterio.
*According to the professor, as soon as you walked by you felt the skin crawl and the constant noise of the console, which still worked. But crime put an end to that and stole all the copper wiring and vandalized everything. An electrical engineer went to check the damage and said that restoring it would cost approximately $30,000, which will be difficult to provide thanks to the problem with the government and the crisis the country is facing. The professor told us that from the sector behind the university called "La Pedrera" the criminals cut the electricity that supplies that area and once they left it inactive they went in and took out all the copper leaving only the consoles empty. I don't want to look for a culprit or anything similar, but no thief would dare to steal copper in that way, and neither would they risk cutting the electricity like that, it is logical that they are experts and knowledgeable people on the subject of wiring. I will let you friends judge for yourselves under your own criteria. *
Entiendo que la situación este difícil pero no hay porque robarle a una institución que solo busca formar grandes personas para un mundo mejor. Me incorporé al instituto en el año 2018, para ese entonces ya estaba arruinado, había más vida y más clases pero solo podía ver tiendas cerradas, algunos salones descuidados pero había vida. Hoy en día visitas la universidad y ves puras ruinas de lo que algunas vez fue una gran institución (al menos como me lo cuentan muchos profesores y ex-alumnos). Esto es un recordatorio y reflexión de que el país se cae a pedazos en cuanto a educación y cada vez más es victima de la violencia, últimamente se están desarrollando otras alternativas para generar ingresos y vivir bien. Pero hay quienes les gusta perjudicar y arruinar a otros por simplemente hacerlo (en Venezuela no es tan fácil vender cobre como parece) sin importar las consecuencias a largo plazo que puede traer esto. Como joven venezolano nacido en el siglo XXI es difícil ver la luz al final del tunel. Solo queda esperar e intentar ser el cambio que quieres ver...
*I understand that the situation is difficult but there is no reason to steal from an institution that only seeks to form great people for a better world. I joined the institute in 2018, by that time it was already ruined, there was more life and more classes but I could only see closed stores, some neglected classrooms but there was life. Today you visit the university and you see pure ruins of what was once a great institution (at least as many professors and alumni tell me). This is a reminder and reflection that the country is falling apart in terms of education and is increasingly a victim of violence, lately other alternatives are being developed to generate income and live well. But there are those who like to harm and ruin others for simply doing so (in Venezuela it is not as easy to sell copper as it seems) regardless of the long term consequences this may bring. As a young Venezuelan born in the 21st century it is difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. One can only wait and try to be the change you want to see....
