Being in the shoes of another and living their problems... How will it feel? Well, maybe it's like that kid from Game Of Thrones, who rolling his eyes got into the skin of others to control them like puppets. But I am not talking about controlling, I am talking about living their same experiences, being them and feeling what they feel.

Many of us long to be like certain people, perhaps just as famous, talented, successful, and beautiful. However, as we only want to be like the seemingly good, we ignore those who have a hard time because that's okay. Who wants to be like someone who is useless?

But, if we thought differently, and we wanted to be like the boy who hands out the newspaper in the morning to bring some food home, we would understand that the reality of life is less material than we come to reflect. Perhaps that boy is not handsome or has luxurious jewelry, although if we look more closely, we will notice that he is someone hard-working, and that he tries to give his bit.

If we only lived for a minute in the shoes of the poor, for example, we would begin to appreciate the little things, those that we complain so much about and that in the end are nothing more than nonsense. Me, for example, when I was a child my mother always told me when putting food on the table for lunch:

-Eat everything, you know that in the world there are people who would like to eat at least one grain of rice.

I made fun of her because she always told us the same thing. Sometimes I would complain because we ate a lot of chicken, or because every night we had bread with ham and milk for dinner. As there was food in abundance, it was piled up in the cupboard, and so that it would not spoil we prepared it for the dogs, who delighted in exquisite dishes.

My mother prepared the food and, since it was a lot, we threw away what was left. Sometimes a whole kilo of pasta went to the garbage, like rice, or chicken...

Many years later, the crisis hit us, shook a nation that lived on abundance to fall on the leftovers. I understood, perhaps late, what my mother said when she was younger. It was not necessary to enter another skin to realize that we were wasting a lot of food, wasting money, and that now we were more than offsetting the waste of the past.

It is enough that we live the bitter realities to appreciate our own. Sometimes we focus on just denying without realizing that out there, there are people who would like to have what little we have. We should reflect when we complain because our shirt doesn't fit us, or because our nose is too big.

Instead of complaining, we should be grateful for the fortune of life, that which allows us to continue fighting and dreaming, surrounded by loved ones and loved ones. If we only got into the shoes of others and lived what they live, we might be more understanding, but above all, grateful.
