Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Let me take us round the globe to have a look at some historical events that took place this day. Just like yesterday, politically related historical events will feature prominently in my today's report. Okay, let's take off good people.

We begin today from Chile [The death of the Chilean dictator General Augusto Pinochet]. On this day in 2006, Chile was thrown into mourning following the death of its dictatorial leader General Augusto Pinochet who ruled Chile from 1974 - 1990. General Augusto Pinochet died while facing charges bordering on human rights abuses.

From Chile, we move over to the rainbow 🌈 nation South Africa [ the assent to a new constitution]. Do you also know that on this day in 1996, Nelson Mandela, the South African President signed into law the country's new constitution that abolished the long rule of white minority (apartheid) and established full fledged democracy.

From South Africa, we move over to Argentina. [the impeachment of President Park Geun-Hye]. Now, on this day in 2007, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner was sworn into office as the first elected female President of Argentina. Cristina Fernández de Kirchner succeeded her husband her Néstor Kirchner. Talk of family affairs really.

From Argentina, we move over to the world of literature [the first publication of Encyclopædia Britannica]. Do you know that on this day in 1876, Encyclopædia Britannica was first published.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from Tanganyika [the posthumous birthday of Michael Manley]. Do you know that on this day in 1924, Michael Manley who had served Jamaica as Prime Minister for three terms from 1972 – 1980 and 1989–1992, was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica.

My good people, that will be all from me today. Let's do it again tomorrow.
