Hoy les comparto la experiencia de mi graduación de doctorado online. Hace cuatro años que empecé mi posgrado en nanociencias y esperaba una graduación convencional en la que mis amigos y familiares estuvieran acompañándome en un auditorio. Sin embargo hoy les puedo decir que si fue así pero a través de internet.
Today I would like to share with you the experience of my online graduation. Four years ago, I started my postgraduate degree in nanosciences, and I expected conventional graduation where my friends and my family would be present in the auditorium. However, today I can tell you that this was the case but through the internet conference.

En el mes de marzo cerraron la universidad y pensé que a los pocos días o pocos meses todo volvería a la normalidad. Sin embargo, desconocía la dimensión de la situación e imagine que para agosto ya podría presentar mi defensa de tesis de manera presencial. Un defensa de tesis consiste en una presentación acerca del trabajo de grado, luego un comité evaluador te hace preguntas. Al finalizar la ronda de preguntas el comité delibera y enseguida te hace saber el resultado de la deliberación. Si eres aprobado entonces obtienes el grado.
On March, the university closed, and I thought that everything should return to normal activities after a few days or months. However, I was unaware of the the covid situation, and I imagined that on august, I would be able to present my dissertation in person. A dissertation consists of a presentation about the thesis work; then an evaluation committee asks you questions. At the end of the round of questions, the committee deliberates and then lets you know the deliberation result. If you are approved, you get your degree.
El examen presencial nunca se dio y terminé presentándolo por videoconferencia el 28 de agosto de 2020. La verdad no fue malo como lo imagine en un principio, hacerlo a través de vídeo conferencia hizo posible que mi familia y amigos me acompañaran desde Colombia o desde donde estuvieran. De hecho, mi director de tesis se emocionó e invito a sus colegas y el examen que se iba a realizar solo en Ensenada terminó siendo internacional. Al final del examen mi director de tesis hizo un resumen de mi trayectoria desde que llegue a Ensenada, esto me pareció muy emotivo y no me lo esperaba, así que no conseguí evitar llorar.
The face-to-face presentation never took place, and I took it by video conference on August 28, 2020. The truth was not bad as I imagined at first, doing it through video conference made it possible for my family and friends to accompany me from Colombia or wherever they were. My thesis director got excited and invited his colleagues, and the exam that was going to be taken only in Ensenada ended up being international. At the end of the exam, my thesis director made a summary of my career since I arrived in Ensenada, this seemed very emotional, and I did not expect it, so I could not help crying.
La verdad esta experiencia es algo que no se vive todos los días, los nervios, la alegría, la emotividad y el cariño de la gente que me acompañó este día no tiene punto de comparación. La celebración consistió en un ceviche estilo Sinaloa preparado por mi esposo, pastel de camote hecho por mis amigos y un brindis con vino. Ya que cerca de Ensenada está el Valle de Guadalupe en el cual se producen alrededor del 90 % de los vinos en México, es casi imposible no encontrar un buen vino.
Ahora que por el momento tengo más tiempo libre, estaré más activa en Hive, gracias por leer. Saludos
The truth is that this experience is something you don't live every day, the nerves, the joy, and the affection of the people who joined me this day have no comparison. The celebration consisted of a Sinaloa style ceviche prepared by my husband, sweet potato cake made by my friends, and a toast with wine. Since near Ensenada is the Valle de Guadalupe where about 90 % of the wines in Mexico are produced, it is almost impossible not to find a good wine.

¡Muchas felicidades! Mi esposa tuvo una experiencia similar, también se tuvo tuvo que hacer su examen de titulación en línea, esto fue a casi a finales de junio.
Me da alegría que a pesar de la situación hayas podido lograr esta meta y que no cualquiera logra hacer. Yo no tengo ni licenciatura terminada jajaja. Te felicito mucho y te mando saludos.
