My kids and I have been sick since winter break started, and we had to find ways of getting entertained during whole week.
My husband got an idea to let them work with the art sets they just recently got.
Here is our first art project with them. It’s called Mix and mold stepping stones. This is how the box looks like.
Inside of it there is one mold, it’s transparent, hard to see on a photo, and there are several bags of cement (I suppose)
According to the directions we mixed the powder with water and poured it into the mold. We had to wear a mask in order to not inhale little particles. After that it dried for at least 8 hours.
Now my youngest got to work. She’s been counting hours to finally start decorating it.
This is how it turned out at the end. We still have a few more bags of the powder to do, for which she’ll be using gems or some other design.
We also finally got an external DVD player for our computer. That means we can watch now our DVDs like an oldies. Kids were so excited! They bought about ten different DVD disks from a Dollar Store, and were anxious to see how it works. Netflix can have a vacation time now:-)
Ok, so our movie of the week is The Nutckracker. The untold story. It’s directed by Andrey Konchalovskiy. Have you seen it?
Here are some screenshots from the movie. It was our first time with the kids watching Nutcracker. They haven’t seen any of the versions before.
This is the part where Mary finds Nutcracker (NC) unconscious, she got him right on time before he was thrown in the fire.
She asked a Fairy to help her to bring him to life but this time Fairy couldn’t help. So Mary started crying and her tear fell on NC’s face.
His hand started to move…
And he was alive! Mary’s love brought him back to life. The Queen Rat was sure no one will ever love the old wooden toy, but she was wrong.
I don’t really know what kind of love they meant in this kids’ movie, I hope it’s about friendship, if so then it’s ok.
All in all it was a fun family movie night for us. I would recommend it for family movie night, just check for what age it is recommended.
It was nice to listen to Tchaikovsky’s music for me and my son. He loves classical music, somehow he is able to recognize it from other kinds.
Well, that’s all of our fun at home for today. I hope your Sunday was as good as ours!
