Dream Lamp: Experiments in Simple Photo Editing

in GEMS3 years ago

I have been starting to take more time to take photos and learn to edit them using simple editing software on my phone. I am by no means a trained professional, but instead someone who has found a new hobby and way to blow off steam and destress.

Not long ago, I made a post detailing a photography project I am working on that involves trash cans. Feel free to read it here

This post will not be as involved, but I am still proud of the work I did to transform this simple photo of a lamp on my bedside table to something a little different.

First, I removed all of the color from the photo, except for the lamp. I then changed the color of the lamp shade/light from natural light to purple.

Next, I added a texture filter to the lamp base, a different one to the table, and even a different one to the wall.

By adding three different filters to different elements of the photo, I was able to highlight different qualities in different ways. I like how I was able to make the desk look like a starry sky, because here the night sky is at the bottom of the picture. I also like how I was able to make the wall look more textured, but also have hints of starriness at the edges. Finally, I like how I was able to make the lamp look like a cross between cartoony and pastel.

Even though this may not be so complicated, I am still happy with how the photo turned out. I will be sharing more of my best and favorite photos and photo edits here on Hive (via PeakD), and look forward to continuing to explore this new hobby of mine and this fun and interesting blockchain social media.
