I do like the view you have from that point, all the different ridges and valleys. I know cameras don't always show the real feel of the setting, but when those valley areas are shrouded in mist and the ridge tops are clear they make a nice view.
We don't have a view point like that here that I have found yet, but getting the shots of the range across the inlet we do get some of that layering of mountains during sunsets.
I love such views you described and I want to try these misty shots in the mornings in Autumn, but I'm not sure if they will work because the sun rises behind the mountain behind my spot, but it's on my task list anyway 😉
