Portfolio: The most recent Mexican work by Sylvia Ji

in GEMS4 years ago

I have seldom seen work that looks as Mexican as SYLVIA JI's, and curiously it is not Mexican but North American, a native of San Francisco (1982) to be more exact. Her name and her job hint at us of Mexican descent but she is actually of Asian descent.

She graduated with honors from the San Francisco University Academy of Art with a specialization in traditional illustration, and from the beginning the central theme of her work has been women. She has recently focused on Mexican culture and that is why her recent work of hers has this marked Mexicanity that adds to the characteristic sensuality of her work.

Pre-Hispanic reasons, but above all related to the Day of the Dead festival, are notorious in her last works, and they are the ones that I share with you on this occasion, hoping they will please her. If so, I recommend you visit her website and Instagram , it's really worth it. Enjoy it.
