These days there are so many great initiatives in the news in order to beat or protect us from COVID19 untill we have a cure for this terrible virus. I did some great blogs already, i will link them down below the blog. Today i want to talk about a young boy that makes the life of health care workers a bit safer, with his invention.
This 12-year-old boy from Mexico decided to help fight the corona virus in his country. Using his own pocket money, and with the help of a 3D printer, he has already made a hundred protective masks for local nurses. A 3D printer to help him make the masks so desparately needed, he has already made a hundred protective masks for local nurses, including his mum. Jorge Martínez Gracida from Oaxaca works all day making his masks. He gets the help of his sister Gigi. "I heard there wasn't enough protective equipment for doctors and nurses," Jorge told local Primera Línea. "So I started making masks myself."
The design for the masks makes the 12-year-old on his computer. It took a few tries, but eventually he found a universal headband that can be worn by anyone. Jorge uses his 3D printer to make the tapes. The mask can be finished with the addition of a strip of sponge and a transparent screen.
It takes between 30 and 40 minutes to print a headband. Jorge and his sister make around 20 masks every day. The family has now delivered a hundred masks to a local hospital. There are people that offered to sponsor him from now on, to safe his pocketmoney.
The inventive minds that rise in these difficult times, i am so proud and i think this is one of the things that can happen in crisis, new things arise.
