(ESP/ENG) Las Bicicletas de Vuelta Al Paisaje Urbano // Bicycles Back to the Urban Landscape

Hello Hive Community, in Venezuela as a result of one of the many problems evidenced after the reigning crisis such as the lack of fuel supply for the vehicle fleet, we have seen how the proliferation of bicycles as a means of transportation has increased.
It used to be casual to see bicycles and those who drove them were usually as part of a sports training or for distraction, however as we are always in constant movement it has become commonplace that bicycles are part of the urban landscape when we go out to the streets.

The use of bicycles has many advantages not only for the environment but also for the improvement of the health of those who ride them.
It is a means of transportation whose use is on the rise because it simply does not use gasoline and thus people can do their shopping or other business, without having to spend long hours in line to refuel their vehicles or even save the expense of paying a fuel at a dollarized cost, sometimes very difficult to pay for the Venezuelan.

Acquiring a bicycle is not as easy as you might think, first because there is a lot of demand and their costs have increased, secondly because there are different types of bikes, some for mountain biking, which are called montañeras; other semi-cross, and cross VMX.
All in all, our streets have been filled with groups of cyclists that have emerged in the communities and deliveries are made in food businesses by means of their use. We don't even see motorcycles anymore, now most of us have a bicycle at home

These groups of cyclists who have organized, go out to ride different routes that are established and there are from the elites who have everything in these rides, that is good snacks at the arrival points, vans and motorcycles that protect them on the route, paramedics, ambulances, and constant hydration and some last generation bicycles.
Also we see groups with less money available but still have been motivated to tour different landscapes of the town and even seen the one who rides a bike without shoes or sandals. Definitely everything has been seen

I tell you that this is my favorite sport, which I started practicing in the year 95, doing mountain biking for the selection of my state in Yaracuy 97.
When they made the selection of participating athletes, I was the last one selected for not having a good bike and it turns out that the state had only sponsored 10 high performance bicycles for that time.
I was a young man of 15 years, daring, without any fear that always at the start I was last because I knew that in the first kilometers the other runners were desperate to be in the lead, they talked about me because I was behind but they did not imagine that days before I walked the entire track discovering the exact points where I could accelerate or be careful with the bike when competing, and thus take advantage of the downhills to the maximum.
That I did together with my friend Leo who competed with me in the same category, then when we got to the top we would change from cycling helmet to motocross helmet and we would go down those descents screaming like crazy, we knew that those ahead would be scared and would slow down.
That was valid, say I'm going right or left, watch out, shouting go at a speed of 60 to 80 kilometers even the same coaches from other states said that athletes are those who go flying how fast we were going.
I will not say that I won a medal in that opportunity but my teammates did, I came in 4th place and my friend in 3rd place. I raced in other competitions, coming in 2nd or 3rd place, which for me was fine I was just cycling because I liked it.
I was able to ride and participate in competitions in the Terepaima Park Track in the state of Lara, Aragua 99 in the Henry Pittier Park, here in Yaracuy in the Cumaraguas Mountain and in the Piscacho Mountain.
At that time I retired from cycling because they took away our bikes supposedly to give us better ones, the organization in charge of the sport at that time. It was all a fraud and we were left without bicycles. I was disappointed and gave up because I did not have the resources for another bicycle.
Today, a month ago and after 20 years without a bike, life has given me the opportunity to buy one again.
I am practicing and trying to have a good endurance and physical capacity, but I confess that I am no longer 15 years old but 40.
It has been gratifying to remember my time as a cyclist and to know that even after so many years there are still many who remain behind my pedals.
