De este lindo amigo sacaremos aceite de coco, bien podríamos hacer un dulce, un encaramado e incuso helados, pero no, esta vez no, hoy no complaceremos nuestro paladar si no que le hare un cariño a mi cabello con su aceite.
From this cute friend we will extract coconut oil, we could well make a sweet, a perch and even ice cream, but no, not this time, today we will not please our palate but I will make my hair a love with its oil.
I parte: Obteniendo la pulpa/ Part I: Obtaining the pulp.
Antes de comenzar todo el proceso tomé un destornillador para abrir un hoyo en el coco para sacarle el agua.(se la di a mi hijo con un poco de azucar.)
Before starting the whole process, I took a screwdriver to open a hole in the coconut to remove the water (I gave it to my son with a little sugar.)
Mi hermano partíó el coco a la mitad para luego yo sacarle la pulpa.
My brother cut the coconut in half and then I took the pulp out of it.
Despues de un buen rato tratando de sacar la pulpa, al fin pude hacerlo para luego rallarla, en ese proceso me ayudo mi pequeño roman "el ayudante de mami".
After a long time trying to remove the pulp, I was finally able to do it and then grate it, in that process my little roman "mommy's helper" helped me.
II parte: Cocinando nuestra pulpa./Part II: Cooking our pulp.
Ahora colocamos el coco en una olla y le agregamos agua (yo usé dos tazas)
Now we place the coconut in a pot and add water to it (* I used two cups *)
Lo mezclamos un poco y lo ponemos al fuego hasta hierva y en ese momento lo apagamos, lo dejamos reposar un rato y colamos.
We mix it a little and put it on the fire until it boils and at that moment we turn it off, let it rest for a while and strain.
III parte:Obteniendo nuestro maraviloso aceite./ Part III: Obtaining our wonderful oil.
El liquido que nos queda lo volvemos a colocar al fuego con la llama lo mas bajo que podamos, yo tuve que cambiar de olla por que la que estaba usando era muy grande.
We put the remaining liquid on the fire with the flame as low as we can, I had to change the pot because the one I was using was very large.
Después de un buen rato (bastante rato) iremos observando como va cambiando de color nuestro liquido al irse evaporando el agua y al final obtendremos nuestro aceite de coco. (en el proceso de espera tambien colocamos a cocinar un dulce de cambur para pasar el rato, "delicioso")
After a long time (quite a while) we will observe how our liquid changes color as the water evaporates and in the end we will obtain our coconut oil. (In the waiting process we also cook a sweet banana to pass the time, "delicious")
Al tenerlo listo aprovechamos que mi prima estaba en casa y lo usamos en su cabello, que de casualidad estaba bien enmarañado, le dimos un buen masaje a esa larga cabellera con nuestro aceite de coco y listo, cabello hermoso.
When we had it ready, we took advantage of the fact that my cousin was at home and we used it on her hair, which by chance was well matted, we gave that long hair a good massage with our coconut oil and voila, beautiful hair.
Use un poco del aceite y lo coloque en un lindo envase y lo metí al congelador para que se endureciera (nota: al sacarlo y mantenerlo mucho afuera se vuelve liquido otra vez).
I used a little of the oil and put it in a nice container and put it in the freezer to harden (note: when you take it out and keep it out a lot it becomes liquid again).
