One of the most powerful songs of the "Foo Fighters" is "The Pretender" the first single from the Echoes album, Silence, Patience & Grace, which came out in 2007, leaving a powerful mark, for its sound and excellent riff of guitar. This song came out first on iTunes and then was heard on the radio. In 2008, the song won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance, and was nominated for Best Recording and Best Rock Song.

This song was the target of great speculation due to its theme and structure of the lyrics, making it clear in some opinions that this song was directed to the political instability that the US state had at the time. This song has a guitar riff with a good distortion giving it that power, in addition to the force that dave gives when playing.
