Having difficulties in life is not new to us or my wife. We surpassed a lot of challenges from the beginning of our journey as a couple. We easily lend help to people even if we're broke because we know how it feels to have nothing. Lately, she was sick and had a hard time eating and doing her daily activities at home. There was a day that I fetched my daughter after her classes because her mom was not feeling well.
I told Jehoia not to disturb me while having classes at school. She just stayed at the faculty room watching YouTube videos. I gave her snacks and instructed her to drink lots of water. My co-teachers were also there to look after her while I'm not around. Some of them gave her biscuits and chocolates. But she knows that she's not allowed to take a lot of sweets. She kept the other foods, telling me that she would give some to her Kuya Yoye.
When it's time for us to go home, I told her that we will fetch her mom and Kuya Yoye. She was so excited since she has something for her brother. We went home first and changed our clothes. When we were on our way to the town, I told her that we would pass the church before going to the central school. I was shocked that she responded, "We will pray that Mama will be okay. I pray that God will help us and everything will be fine."
I never thought she would say those words. At her age, I was really touched that she thinks of us, her parents. That she prays and wishes for the good of our family. When we arrived at the church, we got inside and offered our prayers. I felt so burdened before going to the church. But when I heard her words, it gave me hope and inspired me to think positively. That everything's going to be alright. She's truly a gem to us.
I felt good after offering our prayers. I think of good things and look forward to better days. My daughter's little prayer ignites my faith to become stronger. May we hold to the promises of God and continue to serve Him in doing good things to others despite their bad actions toward us. I even changed my way of reacting to negative people. If before I easily got mad upon hearing their false statements, now I will just smile and say, I don't want to be stressed. I want to regain my inner peace and live happily with my wife and kids.
They are not worthy of our time. We need to focus on how we should take good care of our own problems. Our life will not become easy with their presence. They are just weighs that give us so much burden and pain. It is within our reach to decide to feel good everyday. Life is tough? Yeah, but we are tougher. Go on, move forward, and be faithful and always offer a little prayer.
