I imagine many people in this community have already heard of Brave Browser, which happens to be the official browser of Splinterlands. However, Presearch, a search engine, is an even more effective way to make passive income. So far, in about 2 months of normal computer use I have made about $10 on Brave Browser and $28 on Presearch. Without further ado, I'll get into why you should use them and how you can get them set up.
Brave Browser
Why should I use it?
Although its main draw is the money it pays you from viewing ads (you get paid in Basic Attention Token aka BAT), it's a really efficient browser that is very good at protecting your privacy. It will consistently block trackers and ads from popping up, while also paying you for viewing their ads. At about .1 BAT an ad (or 7¢) it starts to add up.
In essence, Brave Browser pays you to view ads, but also decreases the number of ads you will see; it searches faster, and also protects your privacy better than most browsers.
How can I set it up?
Brave Browser is really quite easy to set up. All you have to do is download Brave, open it up, and it will walk you through the rest. If anyone does run into any issues, comment below for help.
Final note: Brave will notice if you try to farm rewards, so don't. Just use it like a normal Browser and get paid a couple bucks a month.
Presearch
Why should I use it?
Money. It's as simple as that. Maybe in the future this will change, but currently Presearch is like Google with a slightly less friendly UI. Personally, I will choose a less friendly UI if I'm making 3¢ a search, but it's totally your call. Every search you do, you make .1 PRE. With PRE currently sitting at 30¢, that's 3¢ a search. Presearch limits the number of searches you get paid for per day to 30. So, if you do 30 searches a day you are making 3 PRE, or 90¢ at today's price! All for searching on the internet.
How can I set it up?
Note: This guide is only for Brave Browser.
After following my referral code, set up an account. This will require an email address and password. By setting up an account through here, you get 25 FREE PRE! That's about $7.50 right now! Now, if you want to make Presearch your default search engine (which you should), go to About Brave. Your screen should look like this:
Select the bar that says "Search Engine". It will look like this. Select "Manage search engine".
After selecting "Manage search engine", you'll get a page that looks like this.
To add Presearch, simply click "Add". Then add "Presearch" for the search engine, presearch.org for the keyword, and https://www.presearch.org/extsearch?term=%s for the URL. Then click on the 3 dots on the side and choose "set default". Try out a search, and let me know if it works! If not, I'm happy to help.
PS I would not recommend buying PRE.
