EMPRENDIMIENTO EN PANDEMIA . SET OUT IN PANDEMIC.
Sabemos bien que la actual pandemia nos ha hecho conocer facetas de nosotros mismos y de nuestros conocidos que ni siquiera sabíamos que existían. Se ha destacado por sacar la mejor o peor versión de algunos, nos ha hecho mas fuertes y en algunas ocasiones nos ha quebrado, sin duda el Covid nos cambió la vida a mi y a muchísimos; entre ellos mi familia en Ecuador.
We know well that the current pandemic has made us know aspects of ourselves and our acquaintances that we did not even know existed. It has stood out for bringing out the best or worst version of some, it has made us stronger and on some occasions it has broken us, without a doubt the Covid changed the lives of me and many; including my family in Ecuador.
Mi hermana se fue a Ecuador hace mas de dos años con su novio y los padres de él; ellos son de descendencia árabe, la madre es farmacéuta y el padre es médico cirujano pediátrico. A raíz de la pandemia mi hermana y sus suegros quedaron sin trabajo porque las empresas para las cuales trabajaban cerraron o hicieron recorte del personal, estaban sobreviviendo gracias a los ahorros de la familia y el trabajo de Ibrahim (el novio de gabi, mi hermana).
My sister went to Ecuador more than two years ago with her boyfriend and his parents; They are of Arab descent, the mother is a pharmacist and the father is a pediatric surgeon. As a result of the pandemic, my sister and her in-laws were unemployed because the companies for which they worked closed or cut their staff, they were surviving thanks to the family's savings and the work of Ibrahim (gabi's boyfriend, my sister) .

Pasaban los días y conseguir trabajo se hacía cada vez mas difícil, obviamente los ahorros no serían eternos; es por ésto que ellos deciden salir de su zona de confort y reinvertarse creando Damasco Cuenca. Comenzaron de cero, con algo pequeño, tan pequeño que solo hacían Delivery y servicio Pick up, la sede de damasco para ese entonces era la antigua casa donde ellos vivían. Poco a poco y con arduo trabajo Damasco fue creciendo, ya la antigua casa se estaba quedando pequeña, los pedidos aumentaban y los clientes empezaban a pedir restaurant.
The days passed and getting a job became more and more difficult, obviously the savings would not be eternal; It is for this reason that they decide to get out of their comfort zone and reinvest themselves by creating Damascus Cuenca. They started from scratch, with something small, so small that they only did Delivery and Pick up service, the headquarters of Damascus at that time was the old house where they lived. Little by little and with hard work, Damascus grew, and the old house was getting too small, orders were increasing and customers began to ask for a restaurant.
El 18 de mayo Damasco cumple 2 meses con su nueva sede, un restaurant con un ambiente ameno, cálido, la mejor atención y ni hablar de la comida; gracias a Dios tuve el placer de probar algunos de los platos que sirven allí y la verdad son deliciosos, algo diferente a lo que estoy acostumbrada a comer. Me alegra muchísimo que mi familia haya podido montar la ola y no dejarse ahogar por ella, porque toda adversidad deja de serlo cuando hacemos de ella una oportunidad para crecer.
On May 18 Damascus celebrates 2 months with its new headquarters, a restaurant with a pleasant, warm atmosphere, the best service and not to mention the food; Thank God I had the pleasure of trying some of the dishes they serve there and they are really delicious, something different from what I am used to eating. I am very happy that my family was able to ride the wave and not be drowned by it, because all adversity ceases to be when we make it an opportunity to grow.

El 14 de mayo Damasco cumple un año y no puedo estar mas orgullosa de todo lo que han alcanzado; son una muestra de que las cosas se pueden lograr, se puede salir adelante aún estando en un país extraño, siempre y cuando exista compromiso y disciplina, podemos llegar muy lejos.
On May 14, Damascus turns one year old and I cannot be more proud of all that they have achieved; They are a sign that things can be achieved, you can get ahead even while in a strange country, as long as there is commitment and discipline, we can go very far.
