In case you didn't know, R.C.M.P. stands for Royal Canadian Mounted Police. It is like a national police force, somewhat similar to the FBI, but different in that they offer a wider variety of policing services. For example, in some remote locations they are the only source of law enforcement; they are also assigned to protect our Prime Ministers, provide coastal patrols, highway patrols, drug enforcement, etc. 1973 marked the 100 year anniversary of the RCMP. They are a Canadian icon you might say, along with the Maple Leaf, Maple syrup and Ice Hockey! Thanks for stopping by.

Are they still active nowadays with horses? Wouldn't be simpler and faster to use a bike?

It is mostly for show nowadays. There is something called a “Musical ride,” which showcases the equestrian skills and maneuvers of the horses and riders. They tour Canada wide and have about 50 performances each year. I have yet to see one myself, but it would certainly be cool to see.

Normally they dress and look like regular law enforcement, and use all modern equipment and vehicles.

I've never seen on horse spectacle either, must be cool this one

Nice collection! That first one is pretty cool because they have a "Mountie" on horseback! Great artistry in all three! They have a long and respected history, better than many here in the US.

They have been around for about 150 years now, and going strong.

What a great thing is so distinguished Mounted Police of Canada, I congratulate you. Very good publication. Best wishes.

interesting fact that i just found out, it turns out that RCMP is one of the famous icons of Canada. very useful publication, thank you for sharing.

They are not always in uniform like this, but this is always how they used to dress in the past.

So these stamps are actually for the RMCP? no bad. The second one looks cool.

Just to commemorate the 100th year anniversary. Typically the government issues 20-30 stamps per year, highlighting anything from Canadian endangered animals to the Queen's visit, to something important happening in the country.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police truly embodies the spirit and history of Canada. Their wide range of responsibilities, from protecting Prime Ministers to ensuring safety in remote areas, highlights their unique role. Marking 100 years of service in 1973 is a testament to their enduring legacy as an iconic symbol of Canada, alongside the Maple Leaf and ice hockey. Thank you for sharing this

Indeed, makes one proud to be a Canadian. Thanks for stopping by.
