Ever wondered how you can plan your Do-It-Yourself travel itinerary efficiently? What tourist spots are near each other and where you should look for accommodation? I can help you answer these questions (and more)!
Last March, my friends (@erangvee, @charlocked, @mind-candy @glenduuuuuh, @/phelini) and I were supposed to go visit Taiwan. We booked our tickets as early as November so there's no way we could have possibly know what's coming.
We planned down to the littlest detail and thanks to @erangvee, we managed to know how we can create a custom map in Google Maps and use it for our next DIY trips (once it's okay to travel. This pandemic sucks!).
Steps
I listed the step-by-step instructions and made an infographic to make it easier for you. So without further ado, please read on.
- Go to maps.google.com.ph and make sure you are logged in using your Gmail account;
- On the upper left of the search bar, click the hamburger menu (the three stacked lines);
- Go to Your Places;
- Go to Maps which is on the farthest right tab;
- Click Create Map at the bottom;
- Once created, it’s best to rename your map (e.g. Indonesia, Taiwan, Europe);
- Then, rename the untitled layer to your preference. You can rename it to Day 1 or City Tour. It depends on what works for you;
- Search for your destinations and then click Add to Map ;
- Add new layer if desired especially if you’re identifying what places you’re going to the next day;
- The map you created should be automatically saved. Once done, you can share it to your friends or other travelers!
omg yaaaas! i juat wished the pandemic didn't happen and we got to actually tour taiwan. 😭
