Today, I'll be showing some #bouldersunday photos from the Gunpowder Falls - Notchcliff Road area in Baltimore County, Maryland.
This is the area right near the intersection of Harford Road and Notchcliff Road. Parking is limited here but we went on a weekday and early in the morning.
When the trees don't have their leaves you can see the road more. I love looking out over the water when we drive by this area.
Of course, when the trees are bare you can also see many boulders and rocks on the hills that you wouldn't see otherwise.
Seeing some up close is nice too. I love this mossy rock tucked in under this tree root...
...and this boulder with a really cool design from some type of vegetation possibly.
Which came first? The tree or the rock? My guess would be I the rock! Lots of moss in this area so I had to be extra careful. It rained the night before which made things more slippery.
As soon as I saw this formation I wondered what could be living underneath.
Spied these on the other side of the bridge.
The water was a little higher from the rain and you can see some boulders beneath the surface of the water.
There were a few trees and big branches in the water that came down with some of the heavy winds we had the last couple of months.
My last photo and only one edit today! 😉

Always a pleasure ❤️
Lovely captures of all the moss and boulders on the Gunpowder Falls grounds.
The edit really makes the area look so cheery in wintertime. 💗
Thank you so much Jo!! It sure needed some cheery..lol. It looks a bit cold and barren without all of the greenery. It does let you see some things that you wouldn't see otherwise though. 😉
Thank you very much @pixel-curation!! Much appreciated! 🙂

Oh wow @deerjay these are some fantastic boulders! :-)
Some of them look like ancient ruins of some kind, like a dolmen
and some covered old structure. And some with holes I see!
So pretty how those kinds of bridges reflect and the very
lovely edit! Quite a few wonderful lichens overlapping!
Thank you very much @shasta!! I wondered about those holes in the rocks and if they were caused by the waters or possibly someone had drilled into them for whatever reason. Just seemed odd to me and not like the pot marks in some other rocks that I've seen. Some of them def have an old look about them. 🤔 😊
