I got to experience a glorious view of Table Mountain from the Cape Town harbour while I was completing my powerboat license.

This seal was hanging out on the jetty while we learned some basics about outboard motors. He posed majestically as soon as I pointed my camera!

We started out with some basic drills near the jetty - for example, a figure of eight between two poles.

The gulls really add to the atmosphere.

After an hour or so of practice, we used the radio to get permission from the harbourmaster to leave the harbour.

This is a really fun course and it's highly recommended for everyone!

After more drills out in the open sea, like man-overboard drills, we headed back to the harbour, once again using the radio for permission.

There's time for one last selfie with Table Mountain in the background.

Love the seagulls - and the last photograph is really great

Thanks! There were a lot of them around the restaurant that you like - the Grand.
