Blessings, my Hive people! ❤️ Happy Valentine's Day! I'm telling you that last night, before February 14th arrived, I got crazy and started making some really weird golfeados hahaha!... but brutal! I got it into my head to make them pink, like in the Valentine's theme, to share with my people here at home and have fun with something different. A golfeado is a typical Venezuelan sweet, similar to a cinnamon roll, but with a softer dough and bathed in papelón molasses (a sweet syrup), and usually grated cheese is added on top. It is a delight that is especially enjoyed as a snack.
¡Bendiciones, mi gente de Hive! ❤️ ¡Feliz San Valentín! Les cuento que anoche, antes de que llegara el 14 de febrero, me dio una loquera y me puse a hacer unos golfeados bien raros ¡hahaha!... ¡pero brutales! Se me metió en la cabeza hacerlos rosados, así en la temática de San Valentín, pa' compartir con mi gente aquí en la casa y echar vaina con algo diferente. Un golfeado es un dulce típico de Venezuela, similar a un rollo de canela, pero con una masa más suave y bañada en melado de papelón (un jarabe dulce), y normalmente se le agrega queso rallado por encima. Es una delicia que se disfruta especialmente en la merienda.
I didn’t really have many ingredients in the kitchen, but when you feel like inventing, you come up with something! 🤣 😅 I grabbed the basics for the golfeado dough, that simple, lifelong recipe. But this time I added fuchsia food coloring, so they would look really eye-catching! The dough rose normally, and when it was ready, I rolled it out on the table. What worried me was that it didn’t have much of a tasty cheese filling… So I grabbed a little bit of papelón that I had saved, melted it, and mixed it well until it was a decent syrup. I spread it over the dough and, of course, I grated a little llanero cheese on it… By the way! The craziest thing I wanted to incorporate were little pink chocolate bonbons. Yes, that’s right. They’re white chocolate but colored pink. I had bought them days ago without knowing why, and well, they ended up in the golfeados. I cut it into rolls and let it rise again before putting them in the oven.
Realmente no tenía muchos ingredientes en la cocina, pero cuando uno tiene ganas de inventar, ¡se las ingenia como sea! 🤣 😅 Agarré lo básico pa’ la masa del golfeado, esa receta sencilla de toda la vida. Pero esta vez le metí colorante fucsia, ¡pa’ que quedaran bien llamativos! La masa leudó normalito, y cuando ya estaba lista, la estiré en la mesa. Me preocupó fue que no tenía mucho relleno gustoso con queso... Entonces Agarré un poquito de papelón que tenía guardado, lo derretí y lo mezclé bien hasta que quedó un melado decente. Lo esparcí sobre la masa y, por supuesto, le rayé queso llanero un poquito... De paso! lo más loco que quise incorporar fueron pequeños bombones de chocolate rosado. Sí, así mismo. Son de chocolate blanco pero coloreados de rosa. Los había comprado hace días sin saber pa’ qué, y bueno, terminaron en los golfeados. La corté en rollitos y la dejé leudar otra vez antes de meterlos al horno.
When that started to smell... The kitchen filled with a sweet and salty aroma that was to die for. As soon as they came out of the oven, I couldn't wait to eat one hot. They were divine! The mix of salty cheese and sweet chocolate was crazy, but good!
Cuando eso empezó a oler... La cocina se llenó de un aroma entre dulce y salado que estaba pa’ morirse. Apenas salieron del horno, no aguanté y me comí uno caliente. ¡Quedaron divinos! La mezcla del queso salado con el dulce del chocolate fue una locura, ¡pero de las buenas!
Tonight was very funny because everyone at my house went crazy, laughing thinking about how strange a pink golfeado is, and after trying them, they enjoyed them. It was a different way to celebrate love and spend a good time with the family. If you feel like inventing in the kitchen, go for some golfeados like this! It's easy, fun and you can even make them with friends to keep them entertained. And if you don't have pink chocolate, improvise with whatever you have! The important thing is to put love into it and share it with the people you love.
Esta noche fue muy gracioso porque en mi casa se quedaron locos, se reían pensando en lo extraño que es un golfeado rosado, y después de probarlos, disfrutaron, Fue una forma diferente de celebrar el amor y pasar un rato fino en familia. Si tienen ganas de inventar en la cocina, ¡láncense con unos golfeados así! Es fácil, divertido y hasta los pueden hacer con amigos para que se entretengan. Y si no tienen chocolate rosado, ¡improvisen con lo que tengan! Lo importante es meterle cariño y compartirlo con la gente que uno quiere.
