So it's been raining Chritmas vibes since last week over here - people travelling, going out, having fun, concerts etc.
The vibe in church is also similar. Even through Christmas has gine beyond the scope of christianity, Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ who came to die for sins of mankind.
In church, the environment also reflects Christmas. The decors, the theme, the sermon etc.
We had 2 weeks of Christmas in church.
*Week 1 in church (before and after the seats were filled)
For me, it's always business as usual, as I serve in the production team and sound sub-team. I mix the audio for the online audience.
We usually oversee the church from the very back of the church.
The team consists of the lighting, sound, online and projection sub-teams.
Mixing is done both for online audiences (on the laptop) and in-house audiences (on the digital mixer)
Everything the audience sees and they appreciate as good us as a result of the synergy of these many teams and subteams working together to create a worship experience for those watching and listening.
We have 2 services, one at 8am and the other at 9.45am. We split our roles as needed in the sound team. One person mans the in-house audio while another mixes for online audience, then someone does stage management and one perso floats and supervises. I almost always only mix for online audio most of the time.
Well, it's easy to fit into that role cos I'm actually not around in churcha good number of times, if I'm on call.
During service... My senior colleagues can be seen at the back mixing for online and offline audiences today
Service on Sunday was particularly great. We learnt a new song and the joy was palpable both for the audiences in-house and online.
The children made a wonderful dance performance
A carol song was done with our phone torches waving
We also got great feedbacks from those who listened online.
For me, being part of my team helps me serve as a part of the church. It also exposes me to VERY useful skills such as live mixing, audio and music production, and post production - this in itself has been a very important part of enabling me improve my content creation quality too.
