Hey! So my name is Emike, but I guess you could easily have guess that from my title. My full name though is Aigberua Prudence Osiayelemie Emike. A mouth full, I know. Of all my names I like "Emike" the most. My grandma gave it to me because I'm her favorite grandchild. It means "what I want." And come on who wouldn't want all this juice?
I'm Nigerian; from Edo State to be particular. I'm 20 years. The first child of my family and the only girl. I'm currently studying Computer Engineering at the University of Benin. I'm also the class representative of my class. I'm a writer and I have my own blog where I post my write-ups. I love music and I know one day I'll put my own records out there, can't let this beautiful voice go to waste but for now, I'm focusing on building myself as a writer and not going broke. (Man gats chop.) I’m also a feminist. A real one not the fake clout thirsty one.
Being the first born and only girl.
Being the first born and only girl, I won’t lie, is pretty hard. There’s this crazy amount of pressure to prove that I have more to offer to my family than the man I’ll bring home in the name of marriage. If I’m being honest I don’t really care about marriage. I don’t even know if I want to get married. It seems like a woman’s worst fate and forever and ever sounds pretty scary to me. I want to be able to take care of my family myself and I know I will. I just need to be able to put in the work needed and not give up till I get to where I see myself.
Computer Engineering
Laying all cards on the table, I hate the course I’m studying. I only chose Computer Engineering cause my dad literally forced me to and I’m really smart so I knew I’d be able to cope. But ASUU’s on strike now and I’m starting to really find my passion career wise. I’ve been getting into psychology, explicitly understanding the human behavior and it’s been amazing. Really considering dropping out and pursuing it as a career, become a therapist or something, but we’ll see how that goes.
Music
Music to me is like magic that you can listen to. The ability to evoke emotions through melodies, manipulate moods through harmonies. It’s almost supernatural. I know one day I’ll put my own sound out there, tell my own stories through my voice and lyrics and I honestly can’t wait
My Blog
So I have a blog emikaysblog I started late last year but got really serious with it this year. I basically make opinionated content on real life situations. Mental health issues, relationships issues, societal issues etc. You should really visit sometime I’m sure you’ll love it. These people sure did:

Why Hive?
So last week someone already (@mistakili) on hive saw one of my blog posts on instagram and dmed me saying he really liked my pieces. He then told me about hive as a way to monetize my writing and so here I am.
Hobbies
I love reading, writing, talking to myself (and no, I’m not crazy. Just very introverted). Singing, listening to music. Though there’s this new hobby of mine where I just watch people and try to understand them from the way they walk, to the way they talk looking out for cues that can help me understand their state of mind. It’s a psychology thing and it’s pretty amazing and fun especially when I’m correct.
Right now my life is just pushing to make my dreams come through, improving myself as a writer and as a human being, being happy, loving myself and living as holistic as possible.
I hope to grow on this platform and meet other interesting and creative people like myself and make some racks while at it. In all, it feels great to be here!!!
