Hola, Hive.
Federico Vollmer, el primero de su estirpe en Venezuela, ya que su padre era de origen alemán, fue uno de los principales compositores de música de salón en el siglo XIX. Importantes obras de su autoría eran interpretadas en las fiestas de la aristocracia venezolana en su época.
La pieza que disfrutamos hoy interpretada por el Ensamble Zoe, se llama Jarro Mocho, un vals compuesto originalmente para piano, pero que pronto trascendió a los espacios del pueblo con sus instrumentos tradicionales.
Es importante destacar que Vollmer concibió esta obra como un vals, género muy de moda a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX en nuestro país y que tomó características estilísticas y rítmicas particulares al ser reinterpretado por nuestros compositores, sin embargo, como varias obras conocidas de aquella época, el Jaro Mocho, tomó un rumbo distinto al definido por su autor y poco a poco su condición de vals se fue acelerando para convertirse en lo que hoy conocemos como un joropo.
Las agrupaciones suelen interpretarlo a velocidades extraordinariamente rápidas y ya, aunque en los programas de mano y grabaciones suele indicarse que es un vals, su forma de interpretarlo dista mucho de lo que fue su género original y es prueba de fuego para demostrar el virtuosismo de sus intérpretes.
Esta grabación del Ensamble Zoe fue hecha en el año 2008 durante el TOM Sessions Music realizado en el Teatro de la Ópera de Maracay. Espero lo hayan disfrutado.
Federico Vollmer, the first of his lineage in Venezuela, since his father was of German origin, was one of the main composers of salon music in the 19th century. Important works of his authorship were interpreted in the parties of the Venezuelan aristocracy in his time.
The piece that we enjoy today played by the Zoe Assembly, is called Jarro Mocho, a waltz originally composed for piano, but that soon transcended to the spaces of the town with its traditional instruments.
It is important to emphasize that Vollmer conceived this work like a waltz, very fashionable genre at the end of the XIXth century and beginnings of the XXth century in our country and that it took particular stylistic and rhythmic characteristics on having been reinterpreted by our composers, nevertheless, as several known works of that epoch, the Jaro Mocho, took a different course to the defined one by his author and little by little his condition of waltz was accelerating to turn into what today we know as a joropo.
The groups usually perform it at extraordinarily fast speeds and, although the hand programs and recordings usually indicate that it is a waltz, their way of interpreting it is far from what was its original genre and is a test of fire to demonstrate the virtuosity of its interpreters.

Muchas gracias por este gran aporte con este vals que guarda una parte muy importante de la historia de nuestra música.
