Rain Gifts [EN] // Regalos de la Lluvia [ES]

in GEMS4 years ago
The rain is by far something I love, the weather, the temperature of the environment, even the thunderstorms that usually come with it, are for me something great, but on top of that there are the effects it causes in nature, some animals begin their life cycle thanks to the arrival of the rain. Every year with the first heavy rain usually emerge what is called here bachaco culones, which is the Black Chicatana ant, these leave their colonies to look for other places where to create new colonies.

Besides these big ants, there are other smaller and winged ants that are called here "grandmothers", but these grandmothers do bite hard, and I imagine that the chicatanas must also do it because of its big size, these come to measure a little more than 2 centimeters long. I remember that when I was little, in company of my cousins we went to the garden of my grandmother's house and we crushed them, nowadays it gives me a sensation of indescribable disgust to crush an ant of these. Last night this little friend came into the house, as far as I can see she lost her wings, we usually see them flying, their wings are even bigger than their bodies.

Another of the gifts of the rain this week have been these little ones, two small morrocoy Amazon Turtle, when I was about 8 years old they gave me my first morrocoy and after a few years they gave me a couple for that one, since then they have reproduced and I have given a lot of these friends, and already today I have the courtyard of the house full of them, the truth is that I have lost count of how many there are.

Every year on this date they begin to emerge and we must be alert because many times some animals catch and eat them, this time there were three that had come out of their eggs and unfortunately, at dawn some animal ended the life of one of them, being able to find alive only two, but I am sure that they will continue to emerge more, which means that the place where I have the ones that came out last year is becoming small.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get a home for these little ones, because many people today do not want to have pets or any kind of animals in their homes, I had planned to release a few of these in the field, but the truth is that I am a little afraid that some animal will eat them, that is the big problem of emotional attachment.

Rain is definitely life, even if it sometimes represents the opposite!

I love turtles...But this ant looks like some wild...I frankly say i like ants too but as i said...It looks like a wild alien which is out of a horror-sci-fiction movie...:D

I like pictures...Rain really came with its gifts.

Have a nice day...

If the truth is that these ants are terrifying, and I don't even want to imagine what a bite from them would be like! Surely the rain is a blessing!

They are cute and scary!

Nature is beautiful! Very nice post!

What a lovely post here and so glad that you are not squashing the ants anymore.
Those little turtles are also so cute.

The rain is indeed a blessing and strangely I also did a rain post today.
But of course yours is much better than mine!

Blessings and have a nice weekend!

I don't think mine is better, your posts are great, your pictures are great! I'm very flattered that you would tell me this! Blessed weekend to you too! A big hug!
