Hello Hivers!
These days I discovered a bookmark from the early beginnings of COVID and first quarantine when I got to know about a Google feature called "Arts&Culture".
At the time I didn't make the effort to immerse myself in the experience but basically, this feature has a selection of Museums from around the world from where you can "visit" some of their collections.
I know it's not the same thing as seeing certain pieces in person.
How can anyone ever pass the thrill that seeing Mona Lisa is?
The best part is the disappointment when you realize how small and how far away it is. And the flashes? Reflecting on the glass so you see little to 0?
Oh how I miss it....
I love to travel and visit museums, even those who are more "local".
But last night as the bars opened for the first time since they first closed, I'm staying in.
With a good old bottle of wine, a couple of museums on hand, and an erudite music playlist ready, I stepped inside of my DeLorean and be taken a couple of centuries back.
(Note: I'm no art specialist whatsoever, nor have I studied it. This is only to share this with people who might appreciate it as well.)
I've never been to England, never really had that "London calling" although Scotland, Wales, and Ireland are on the list.
With no predictions of going anytime soon, "The National Gallery" in London seemed to be a nice choice, to begin with.
When you "enter", you are presented with the collections that they have available for seeing but in some of them, you might have the "street view" option.
That option is great because it places you inside of the museum:
(I've decided I wanted to see the one with the black arrow)
Isn't it cool?
This is one of the available online collections, so if you click on it you can see only the painting and if you scroll down, some of it's context.
And this isn't all, you can zoom in by clicking on it.
In some of them you can almost see the cracking paint of how good the quality is!
Bigger ones might lack in that aspect but you always get some funny "goldies":
I spent hours discovering both new painters and new paintings, is a great way to absorb some culture whilst you were born tired like me!
This painting was the only I used for sharing the experience, but nothing like giving a look for yourself and discover your next favorite painting.
