Yo era nuevo en el colegio debido a una mudanza, todo era nuevo para mi, nuevos compañeros, nuevos profesores, nueva etapa, pero me sentía muy motivado porque el colegio realmente parecía un gran lugar para crecer en lo personal, no me tomó mucho tiempo adaptarme, me ayudó mucho el que mi primo estudiara en el mismo colegio a pesar de ser en cursos diferentes.
I was new to the school because of a move, everything was new to me, new classmates, new teachers, new stage, but I was very motivated because the school really seemed like a great place to grow personally, it didn't take me long to adapt, it helped me a lot that my cousin studied in the same school in spite of being in different courses.
Conforme fueron avanzando las semanas me integré mucho con mis compañeros y profesores, éramos un gran curso, con mucha motivación, energía, ganas de aprender, y para que mentir, también éramos bastante revoltosos, más de alguna vez hicimos enfurecer a los profesores.
As the weeks went by I integrated a lot with my classmates and teachers, we were a great course, with a lot of motivation, energy, desire to learn, and so that to lie, we were also quite unruly, more than once we made the teachers angry.
Como todos los años, dos meses después de iniciado el año escolar toca hacer elecciones para el centro estudiantil, que se conforma por: un presidente, un vicepresidente, un tesorero y un secretario. Ya varias personas me habían comentado del proceso y me decían que si me postulaba para el centro de alumnos votarían por mí, al principio tuve muchas dudas, era nuevo, no sabía si todos en el colegio confiarían en mi.
As every year, two months after the school year started, it was time to hold elections for the student body, which is made up of: a president, a vice-president, a treasurer and a secretary. Several people had already told me about the process and they told me that if I applied for the student center they would vote for me, at first I had many doubts, I was new, I did not know if everyone in the school would trust me.
Finalmente me decidí, iba a postularme, así que hablé con mis amigos, y formamos un grupo, con todos los integrantes que debía tener el centro estudiantil, y postulamos, cada quién eligió su cargo, yo postulé al cargo de Presidente, formulamos un proyecto para todo el año, muy detallado, con un montón de ideas para mejorar el colegio, para hacer del colegio un mejor lugar.
Finally I decided, I was going to run, so I talked to my friends, and we formed a group, with all the members that the student center should have, and we applied, each one chose his position, I applied for the position of President, we formulated a project for the whole year, very detailed, with a lot of ideas to improve the school, to make the school a better place.
Debo admitir que la campaña fue muy entretenida, ir por todo el colegio contándole nuestra propuesta a los estudiantes y recibiendo sus opiniones al respecto, recibiendo recomendaciones y críticas sobre nuestro plan, sólo estábamos postulando dos grupos para optar al cargo del centro de alumnos, los chicos que en aquel momento eran nuestros rivales políticos (por decirlo de alguna manera) también tenían grandes ideas, eran un grupo excelente.
I must admit that the campaign was very entertaining, going around the school telling the students about our proposal and receiving their opinions about it, receiving recommendations and criticisms about our plan, we were only nominating two groups to run for the office of the school, the kids who at that time were our political rivals (so to speak) also had great ideas, they were an excellent group.
Llegó el día de la votación, todo el colegio se paraliza por un par de horas, las salas de clases se convierten en mesas de votación, se prohíbe hacer campaña durante ese día, y sólo quedaba esperar, todos los alumnos teniendo que tomar una decisión, y nosotros angustiados por la incertidumbre de si hicimos las cosas bien para ganarnos la confianza de las personas, teníamos un proyecto muy ambicioso y muchas ganas por realizarlo.
The day of the vote arrived, the whole school was paralyzed for a couple of hours, the classrooms were turned into voting tables, it was forbidden to campaign during that day, and there was only one thing left to do: wait, all the students had to make a decision, and we were anguished by the uncertainty of whether we had done the right thing to gain the trust of the people, we had a very ambitious project and we wanted to carry it out.
Una vez se cerró la votación, y posterior conteo de votos, no lo podíamos creer, habíamos conseguido una gran victoria, todo se lo debíamos a las personas que habían confiado en nosotros, y apenas comenzaba la historia, lo mejor estaría por venir, no podíamos defraudar a todo un colegio.
Once the vote was closed and the votes were counted, we could not believe it, we had achieved a great victory, we owed everything to the people who had trusted us, and as soon as the story began, the best would be yet to come, we could not disappoint an entire school.
(Como se puede observar nuestra victoria fue bastante contundente, 283 votos frente a 73 que obtuvo la otra lista)

Los chicos de la otra lista, los "rivales" que ya les había comentado, tenían muchas ganas de ayudar al colegio, era evidente, por algo habían postulado al centro de alumnos, así que decidimos integrarlos a nuestro proyecto, abriendo nuevos puestos, delegando funciones, pudiendo así generar más ideas y soluciones para el estudiantado.
The boys on the other list, the "rivals" I had already told you about, were very eager to help the school, it was obvious, they had applied to the student center for a reason, so we decided to integrate them into our project, opening new positions, delegating functions, thus being able to generate more ideas and solutions for the students.
Esa fusión representó la palabra unión, si alguien quiere ayudar, hay que darle la oportunidad de hacerlo, y esto aplica en todos los ámbitos de la vida, no seamos egoístas cuando escalemos o cumplamos metas, extendamos una mano amiga para todas aquellas personas que quieren aportar y ser útiles, los tiempos recientes nos han enseñado lo mucho que dependemos los unos de los otros.
That fusion represented the word union, if someone wants to help, they must be given the opportunity to do so, and this applies in all areas of life, let's not be selfish when we climb or achieve goals, let's extend a helping hand to all those people who want to contribute and be useful, recent times have taught us how much we depend on each other.
