Well is difficult to tell you everything about this book in a simple blog but I will try my best level to convey a message from Hector Gracia and Francesc Miralles (Authors of the IKIGAI) to the readers in some simple steps. Moreover, I am going to talk about my learning from this book. Just fee days back, I have completed reading the IKIGAI — The Japanese Secret to a Long Happy Life.

The book discusses the different aspects of life which help achieve a long and fruitful happy life. The entire book is based on an ancient Japanese technique called IKIGAI. The meaning of IKIGAI is very dip and should be understood by everyone

IKIGAI means The Reason that gets you off the bed every Morning

In the books, the Authors have taken Okinawa (An island in Japan ) as a reference where there are 25 people are of age over 100 for every 1,00,000 people - far more than the global average. Once you understand the meaning of IKIGAI, the books take you on a journey of staying young and healthy while growing old.

The book talks about five places (blue zones) where people live longer than average and the secrets of their long life. Okinawa is one out of that five blue zones this is deeply discussed in the book.

In the next chapter, the book discusses how a lot of stress and a lot of sitting ages you faster. It also explains that little stress is what one should have to stay young and active.

In the subsequent chapter, the Authors have urge readers to discover the meaning of your life rather than creating one.

Once you find the meaning of your life, the next chapter discusses how you should completely immerse yourself in your work without being distracted by your surroundings. The condition of not being distracted and fully focused on your meaning of life is called the flow, According to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi -The author of the outstanding book FLOW.

The penultimate chapter talks about various techniques which help the mind and body at peace. It talks in detail with simple steps about Meditation, Yoga, Surya Namaskara, Radio Taiso, Tai Chi etc.

The last chapter prepares you for your worst forthcoming days. It also explains not to worry about things that are beyond our control.

In the end, I think the book has got everything that is needed to live a long and healthy life. I would recommend the readers who are health-conscious and for the one who is not health-conscious now but are willing to change their life - MUST READ BOOK
