Unhealthy boundary number five is adopting another person's beliefs or ideas so you are accepted.
Hey, everybody wants to be liked. Human beings are social creatures. But we pretend to be something we are not so that we don't get rejected. When we are children, we don't have the chance to choose our religion, our diet or where we go to school.
Even as we get older some of us never hear, "what do you like/think?". Our parents make all decisions for us. Sometimes parents control aspects of our lives that we no longer have a sense of autonomy.
For years my parents already decided for me that I was going to be a nurse. My parents still haven't accepted the fact that I'm never going to be a nurse. When I dropped out of nursing school my father stopped talking to me for a week! Unfortunately, working in a hospital and being a nurse is not who I am.
